Opening the doors of House IX, the hustle and bustle of Mumbai's streets is quietly tucked away. Designed by Kiran Gala Associates and set to be completed in 2024, this 2,500-square-foot apartment gently divides the owner's "dual living"—the upper floor serves as a modern, sleek daily abode, while the lower level offers a "healing retreat" woven with earthy tones and sustainable principles. Every inch of the space embodies the idea that home can embrace exquisite textures while coexisting gently with nature.

推开 House IX 的门，孟买街头的喧嚣便被悄然隔绝。这处由 Kiran Gala Associates 操刀、2024 年落成的 2500 平方英尺公寓，是业主 “上下两层双生活” 的温柔分界 —— 上层是现代利落的日常居所，下层则是设计师用大地色系与可持续理念编织的 “疗愈 retreat”，每一寸空间都在诠释：家，既能拥抱精致质感，也能与自然温柔共生。

Entering the common area, the open-plan living and dining room is bathed in the warmth of morning light. Light gray floor tiles and taupe plaster walls create a soft carpet, while the lush green scenery from the balcony filters through the glass, creating a dynamic, never-changing decorative painting. In the dining room, the custom sideboard and Smeg refrigerator form a seamless dance of interplay. The sideboard precisely replicates the refrigerator's colors and lines, creating a seamless, integrated experience. The most captivating element is the dining table, crafted from construction site waste. Remnant marble slabs have been meticulously pieced together, their interwoven textures revealing a clever, minimalist approach to waste. Grooved wooden feet support the tabletop, creating a harmonious interplay between the warm wood and cool stone. As the family gathers around, the crisp sound of cutlery, the aroma of food, and the cool touch of marble intertwine, transforming even the most ordinary dining moment into a gentle expression of sustainable living.

步入公共区域，开放式客厅与餐厅被晨光裹着暖意。浅灰色地砖与灰褐色灰泥墙铺就的基底，像为空间铺上一层柔软的 “大地毯”，阳台外的 lush green 景致透过玻璃漫进来，成了无需更换的 “动态装饰画”。视线落在餐厅，定制餐边柜与 Smeg 冰箱形成奇妙的 “呼应舞”—— 餐边柜精准复刻了冰箱的色彩与线条，没有突兀的割裂感，只觉二者本就该融为一体。而最动人的 “主角”，是那张由工地废料重生的餐桌：大理石余料被精心拼接，纹理错落间藏着 “不浪费” 的巧思；带凹槽纹理的木质地脚稳稳托住台面，温润的木质与冷冽的石材相撞，却生出和谐的质感。当家人围坐在此，餐具轻叩桌面的脆响、食物的香气与大理石的微凉触感交织，平凡的用餐时刻，也成了对 “可持续生活” 的温柔践行。

Deeper into the space, a discreet kitchenette and pantry, like "invisible butlers," sit discreetly embedded in the wall, seamlessly accommodating the essentials of life without disrupting the overall sense of transparency. The master suite offers another tranquil haven, its private balcony bringing the light of Mumbai into the room. Warm wood floors feel soft to the touch, while travertine marble countertops shimmer with a delicate sheen, creating a warm and understated sense of luxury. A walk-in area connects to the ensuite bathroom, where the texture of the fluted wainscoting gently "breathes" in the light. Without overly elaborate ornamentation, the purity of the materials creates a restrained elegance. The second bedroom offers a touch of ingenuity, with striped wallpaper gently extending across an earth-toned base. The subtle pattern adds depth without disrupting the overall tranquility—a thoughtful haven for visiting friends. The soft bedding and delicate wallpaper speak volumes about the owner's thoughtfulness.

往空间深处走，隐秘的小厨房与储藏室像 “隐形管家”，悄悄嵌入墙体，不破坏整体的通透感，却默默收纳着生活的琐碎。主卧套房是另一片静谧天地，私人阳台将孟买的光影引入室内，暖木色地板踩着柔软，石灰华大理石的台面泛着细腻光泽，二者搭配让空间既显温润，又藏着低调的奢华。步入式区域衔接独立卫浴，凹槽护墙板的肌理在光线下轻轻 “呼吸”，没有繁复的装饰，只用材质的纯粹勾勒出 “克制的优雅”。次卧则添了几分巧思，条纹壁纸在大地色系的基底上轻轻延伸，浅淡的纹路既丰富了视觉层次，又不打破整体的宁静 —— 朋友来访时，这里便是贴心的 “临时港湾”，床品的柔软、壁纸的细腻，都在诉说着主人的周到。

The colors and details throughout the space reflect the designer's precise grasp of balance. Within the predominantly earthy palette, occasional bursts of blue and rust, like vibrant notes—perhaps a touch of blue in a living room painting, perhaps a touch of rust on a second bedroom pillow—infuse the tranquil space with a fresh, vibrant atmosphere. Brass details are the finishing touches: the curved curves of the door handles gleam softly, while the delicate lines of the wall lamp frames subtly shimmer in the light, lending the space a sense of understated sophistication. Even the air conditioning system is concealed within the design, seamlessly integrating with the intricate ceiling details, achieving a seamless harmony between practicality and aesthetics.

整个空间的色彩与细节，藏着设计师对 “平衡” 的精准把控。大地色的主调里，偶尔跃出的蓝色与锈色像 “灵动音符”—— 或许是客厅挂画里的一抹蓝，或许是次卧抱枕上的一点锈红，为沉静的空间注入鲜活气息。黄铜细节则是 “点睛之笔”：门把手的弧度泛着柔和光泽，壁灯的边框藏着精致线条，在光线下悄悄 “闪光”，为空间添上低调的精致感。就连空调系统都被 “藏” 进了设计里，与复杂的天花板细节无缝共生，实用与美学从未如此默契。

The warmth of this design stems from the designers' deep understanding of the client's needs. Knowing the client's desire for "a sense of tactility and groundedness distinct from their upper-level residence," Kiran Gala and Sonam Gala Gosalia, guided by the principle that "time imparts depth to materials," selected wood, marble, and plaster that will age with age. Understanding the client's focus on sustainability, they transformed construction site waste into core furniture, transforming environmental protection from a slogan into a tangible, everyday reality. From design to completion in October 2024, every tile and every inch of wood in House IX has been waiting to "grow" with the client's life. Perhaps the wooden table will bear the faint marks of coasters, and the marble countertops may show signs of wear and tear, but these "marks of life" are the most beautiful foreshadowing the designers have planted for this home.

这份设计的温度，源于设计师对业主需求的深刻读懂。知道业主想要 “与上层居所不同的触感与根基感”，Kiran Gala 与 Sonam Gala Gosalia 便以 “时间会让材质更有味道” 为理念，挑选了能随岁月沉淀质感的木材、大理石与灰泥；明白业主重视可持续，便将工地废料转化为核心家具，让环保不再是口号，而是触手可及的日常。从设计到 2024 年 10 月完工，House IX 里的每一块瓷砖、每一寸木材，都在等待与业主的生活 “共生长”—— 或许木桌会留下杯垫的浅印，或许大理石台面会多几道使用的痕迹，但这些 “生活的印记”，正是设计师为这个家埋下的最美伏笔。

Today, House IX is more than just a "recreation space." It's a haven for residents to unwind, a haven for friends to gather, and a perfect blend of sustainability and refined living. Here, earth tones serve as the emotional undertone, while sustainability is the guiding principle. Every design statement conveys the message: A home doesn't need to be trendy; it needs to be in tune with your heart—this is the most captivating expression of contemporary living.
