INTERIOR Concept

CHOP BBQ restaurant in Murmansk is dedicated to barbecue and a meticulously crafted bar culture. Its concept was born as a response to the challenges of a harsh northern city, where the sun doesn't appear for months. We created a space imbued with intimate warmth – an oasis where guests can take refuge from the polar night.

The restaurant is housed in a standalone two-story building near the city center. The first floor is a bright open-space with panoramic windows, dominated by the bar area with a cold room and a dining room featuring an open kitchen. The basement houses technical facilities and a guest restroom.​​​​​​​

INTERIOR DESIGN

Contractors once aptly noted: the project is perceived as an intricately carved box. The restrained facade of the two-story building is merely the cover. Inside, guests are met with a wealth of details and complex harmony.

The interior is filled with custom-made pieces, carefully fitted together. Each element is like a jewel in the box, revealing itself gradually to the eye, making the space "complex" and endlessly interesting to explore.

Deep coziness and a sense of "home" are achieved through interior lighting and color, the atmosphere of the space, and natural materials. Solid oak (wall panels and furniture) provides a physical sensation of warmth. Natural stone in various textures adds natural strength and a feeling of the "hearth." Metal in the interior and the deep indigo blue of the ceramic tiles deliberately introduce a "cool" note. This contrast reflects the very essence of Murmansk: the interior's coziness versus the harsh external environment.

We created the unique indigo chameleon-blue tiles, as always, by hand through our ceramicist friends. The task was complex: to create a glaze with a rainbow, "gasoline" sheen. We went through many sample iterations to achieve the desired effect, as the glaze burned heavily in the kiln, requiring experiments with different materials.

All table bases are exclusive, complex in design and construction – made to our specifications. The accent red chairs are also our own design; the frame is metal, upholstered in a textured "faux fur" fabric. The chairs are styled after vintage lecture/library "design icons" to create a relaxed atmosphere.

The remaining seating is complemented by Fameg wooden chairs with a cool detail – a ball on the backrest – and Greek-style half-bar stools by Topos.​​​​​​​

The decorative lighting is literally mixed from different eras:

*   Vintage Italian chandeliers by designer Gaetano Sciolari, produced in the 1960s, with chrome-plated polished elements;

*   Modern pieces by Italian manufacturer Nemo Lighting, reminiscent of antique multi-tiered chandeliers; modern French pendants by DCW editions by designer Bernard-Albin Gras;

*   Lighting fixtures of our own design.

The metal cassette panels with layered green painting are inspired by antique textures from the album of cult designers Parts and Labor Design.

In the cold room area, above the cozy sofa seating, the painting "Bull" by Moscow artist Liliya Kovgan reigns supreme.

CHOP BBQ is more than a restaurant. It's a "warm oasis," carefully preserving coziness and complex beauty amidst the Murmansk winter. Every detail, from the unique tiles to the signature chairs, is crafted with love and skill, inviting guests to discover this space step by step, like jewels in an exquisite box.

Ресторан CHOP BBQ в Мурманске — посвящен барбекю и искусно выстроенной барной культуре. Его концепция родилась как ответ на вызов сурового северного города, где солнца не бывает месяцами. Мы создали пространство, пропитанное камерной теплотой — оазис, где гости могут укрыться от полярной ночи.

Ресторан располагается в отдельно-стоящем двухэтажном здании недалеко от центра города. Первый этаж — светлое open-space с панорамными окнами, где доминируют барная зона с колдрумом и зал с открытой кухней. Цоколь — технические помещения и гостевой санузел.​​​​​​​

Подрядчики точно подметили однажды: проект воспринимается как искусная резная шкатулка. Сдержанный фасад двухэтажного здания — лишь обложка. Внутри же гостей ждет богатство деталей и сложная гармония.

Интерьер наполнен кастомными изделиями, тщательно подогнанными друг к другу. Каждый элемент — как драгоценность в шкатулке, открывающаяся взгляду постепенно, делая пространство "сложным" и бесконечно интересным для изучения.

Глубокий уют и ощущение "дома" достигается через свет и цвет в интерьере, атмосферу пространства и натуральные материалы. Массив дуба (стеновые панели и мебель) дарит физическое ощущение тепла. Натуральный камень в разных фактурах добавляет природной мощи и ощущение “очага”. Металл в интерьере и глубокий синий цвет индиго керамической плитки сознательно вносят "холодную" ноту. Этот контраст — отражение самой сути Мурманска: уют интерьера против суровой внешней среды.

​​​​​​​Декоративное освещение замиксовали буквально из разных эпох:

- Винтажные итальянские люстры дизайнера Gaetano Sciolari, производства 1960х годов, с хромированными полированными элементами;

- Современные итальянские фабрики Nemo Lighting, напоминающие старинные  многоэтажные люстры; французские современные подвесы фабрики DCW editions дизайнера Bernard-Albin Gras

- Светильники нашего авторства.

Металлические кассетные панели с зеленой слоистой покраской вдохновлены старинными текстурами из альбома культовых дизайнеров Parts and Labor Design.

Уникальную синюю плитку-хамелеон цвета индиго мы, как и всегда, создавали руками наших знакомых керамистов, задача была непростая: сделать глазурь с радужным “бензиновым” отливом. Прошли много итераций образцов, чтобы добиться нужного эффекта, так как глазурь сильно горела в печи и требовались эксперименты с разными материалами.

Все подстолья — эксклюзивные, сложные по дизайну и узлам – выполнены по нашим чертежам. Акцентные красные стулья также нашего дизайна, каркас выполнен из металла, обивка из фактурной ткани под “мех” – стулья в стилистике лекционно-библиотечных винтажных “икон дизайна” для создания расслабленной атмосферы.

Остальные посадки дополнили деревянными стульями Fameg с классной деталью – шариком на спинке и греческими полубарными стульями Topos.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

CHOP BBQ — это больше, чем ресторан. Это "оазис тепла", бережно хранящий  уют и сложную красоту посреди мурманской зимы. Каждая деталь, от уникальной плитки до авторского стула, создана с любовью и мастерством, приглашая гостей открывать для себя это пространство шаг за шагом, как драгоценности в изысканной шкатулке.

В зоне колдрума, над уютной диванной посадкой, царит картина “Бык” авторства московской художницы Лилии Ковган.
