DISCO DÖNER- a Berlin KEBABA station in Shanghai

Kebaba is a late-night Berlin-inspired döner spot in Shanghai, blending fresh chicken, crisp vegetables, and bold sauces with the energy of street culture and club nights. Instead of becoming another kebab stall, the brand set out to build a destination—one that channels Berlin’s after-hours spirit while staying rooted in Shanghai’s street vitality. “Disco Döner” captures this mix: fast food in a setting that feels social, vivid, and memorable.

The design begins with a clear gesture: turning the interior into a moving “disco ball.” Mirrored stainless-steel mosaics cover walls and floors, scattering light and amplifying motion, creating a dynamic, day-to-night atmosphere.

The spatial sequence reflects two rhythms—efficient and playful. At the entrance, the open counter and visible kitchen merge street immediacy with a sense of arrival. A mirrored kitchen box at the center introduces calm precision, suggesting that street food can have a refined core. Toward the back, softer lighting and relaxed seating form a zone for lingering, gathering, or late-night DJ use.

Light gradients, material shifts, and a choreographed route guide guests from “grab and go” to “stay and socialize.” Standing tables and small nooks encourage casual encounters and break the one-way flow typical of snack shops.
