El-Arab District حي العرب , established during the construction of the Suez Canal in a position inferior to the European Quarter, has long endured marginalization despite being a living witness to the bravery and resilience of its people during the Tripartite Aggression.And despite the encroachments and years of neglect, the district remains vibrant—its popular spirit and deep collective memory felt instantly by anyone who visits.From this, our proposal “Hakawy” — our project Awarded the Honorable Mention in the Port Said Urban Regeneration Design Competition — emerges to revive this memory without erasing its character or severing its roots.It is a renewed reading of an old place… allowing what already exists to flourish once again.
