从展览走向演化，第 19 届建筑双年展成为历史上参观人数最多的一届。从威尼斯出发，其理念正向外扩散，在展览之外继续发挥作用，作为我们共同塑造的地球的“活实验室”不断延续。

From exhibition to evolution, the 19th Biennale Architettura became the most visited edition in its history. Beginning with Venice, its ideas are now moving outward, continuing the work beyond the Exhibition as a living lab for the planet we are shaping.

建筑双年展 2025 于 11 月 23 日闭幕，创下其历史最高参观量，售出 298,000 张门票，接待访客超过 310,000 人。本届展览以 “Intelligens. Natural. Artificial. The Biennale Architettura 2025 concluded on November 23, marking the highest attendance in its history, with a record 298,000 tickets sold and over 310,000 visitors. The Exhibition, Intelligens. Natural. Artificial. Collective. explored how architecture can adapt and evolve amidst environmental, technological, and social uncertainties. Instead of expanding its physical footprint, Intelligens emphasized the need to rethink architectural practices, embracing adaptation and learning from the intelligence found in natural, artificial, and collective forms. Its work now continues. A lot of the exhibition will keep living. Some installations will be taken into other venues after Venice, carrying on the message of adaptation and reuse. The exhibition design itself is entering a second life. As outlined in the Circularity Manifesto, all chipboard panels —already made from recycled furniture—have been sent to Saviola for shredding and reprocessing into new panels, allowing the materials to move through other uses rather than be discarded.

Among many landmark projects, AquaPraça, the floating plaza designed by CRA-Carlo Ratti Associati and Höweler + Yoon, was a cultural hub at COP30 in Belém, Brazil. First unveiled in Venice by Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security, and the COP30 Presidency, it later became an integral part of the Italian Pavilion at the UN Climate Change Conference. The project took shape through a broad international coalition, including CIHEAM Bari and the World Bank Group’s Connect4Climate program, and was supported by BF International – Member of the BF S.p.A. Group (AquaPraça COP30 Naming Partner), Bloomberg Philanthropies, Costa Crociere, ENEL, and Gruppo Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane. It was built by Cimolai, Italy’s leading advanced steel construction company.

The impact of the Biennale continues through ideas. Tens of thousands of people have engaged with the exhibition’s themes through the GENS Public Programme, which brought more than 300 speakers to the Speakers’ Corner in the middle of the Arsenale. Instead of a traditional sequence of scheduled conferences, it became a continuous flow of workshops and talks proposed directly by participants, creating six months of daily conversations, workshops, and open debate. Countless conversations are still ongoing in various forms. Also, initiatives such as the Construction Futures Lab, made possible by Filiera Fondamentale, are turned into fully fledged research initiatives.

As the Biennale Architettura 2025 concludes in Venice, the work it set in motion enters a new phase. Architecture sits at the center of today’s climate crisis, and as cities and ecosystems shift, its role must expand beyond construction to embrace adaptation, innovation, and resilience. As such, the Biennale leaves us with a pledge — a third manifesto for change. The lessons learned from this event will continue to shape the future of architecture, urging us all to rethink our approach and act in the spirit of Intelligens. You can read the manifesto below:

Intelligens: The Third Manifesto

好的事物常常以“三”呈现，但这里的“第三”并非结语——它是我们一路所提出问题的积累与结晶。

在以循环（Circularity）与适应（Adaptation）为主题的宣言开启 2025 建筑双年展之后，我们来到第三份、也是最后一份宣言：一份关于建筑本身的宣言，关于其紧迫性、其潜能，以及其塑造我们所居住世界的力量。这是一项呼吁，呼吁认识设计在当今的重要地位。

我们从一个紧迫的事实开始：我们所处时代的决定性挑战，是适应一个正在变化的星球。建筑位于这一挑战的核心。在过去六个月中，建筑双年展成为思想与实验的万花筒，融合了自然、人工与集体的所有形式的智能。

它们由共同的探究精神贯穿，如同培养皿，使概念在其中碰撞、转化与生长。随着展览灯光渐暗，我们将把这种实验精神带回日常实践之中。

建筑能够在未来数十年的变革中主张新的中心地位。它能够引导我们适应不断变化的地球，影响我们不仅如何建造，也影响我们如何生活。

借用巴克敏斯特·富勒（Buckminster Fuller）的话说：建筑不必消失；它可以帮助塑造一个更加宜居的明日乌托邦。

Good things come in threes, yet here the third is not a conclusion — it is the culmination of the questions we have been asking all along.

After opening the 2025 Biennale Architettura with manifestos on Circularity and Adaptation, we arrive now at a third and final one: a manifesto on architecture itself, on its urgency, its promise, and its power to shape the world we inhabit. It is a call to recognize the centrality of design today.

We began with an urgent truth: the defining challenge of our era is adapting to a changing planet. Architecture sits at the center of that challenge. Over the past six months, the Biennale Architettura has been a kaleidoscope of ideas and experiments, blending all forms of intelligence — natural, artificial, collective.

All were held together by a shared spirit of inquiry, a Petri dish in which concepts collide, transform, and grow. As the exhibition lights fade, we carry forward this spirit of experimentation into our daily practice.

Architecture can claim a new centrality in shaping the transformations of the coming decades. It can guide our adaptation to a shifting planet, influencing not only how we build but how we live.

To echo Buckminster Fuller: architecture need not fade into oblivion; it can help shape the utopia of a more livable tomorrow.
