To achieve this vision, UMI’s owner partnered with PUKACO, aiming to create a space that carries the “soul of Japan” using Venice Concrete Effect finishing materials.

This wasn’t just a decoration project; it was a journey of blending authentic Japanese aesthetics with modern material craftsmanship.

1. Why UMI Chose Venice – “The Material of Refinement”

Instead of using tiles, stone, or traditional wall cladding, Venice was chosen because it offers:

✔ A smooth, warm surface not cold like raw concrete Venice creates a zen feeling calm, balanced, and perfectly aligned with Japanese Modern design.

✔ Depth created through lighting Venice subtly reflects light, creating beautiful effects under warm yellow lamps the signature tone of UMI.

✔ Seamless finish with no joint lines In Japanese architecture, cleanliness and continuity are essential. Venice delivers exactly that.

✔ Durability, stain resistance, easy maintenance An ideal material for restaurants operating at high capacity.

UMI wanted a space that is elegant, refined, and efficient to maintain Venice is the only material that fulfills all three requirements.

2. PUKACO’s Detailed Implementation Process at UMI Japanese

PUKACO wasn’t just a contractor—we participated in concept consultation, color selection, and lighting–surface coordination.

? 2.1. Site analysis & lighting design

Our team evaluated:

+ Warm lighting intensity at the staircase

+ Wood tones & ambient light in the dining areas

+ Decorative light zones near the neon area

+ Floor roughness to choose the ideal smoothness

Only after this analysis did we finalize the Venice color tone and texture.

2.2. Staircase area – The most impactful transition space

As the “first impression” spot, PUKACO selected: + Warm Beige Venice tone + Smooth Finish + Satin sheen + Subtle gradient technique following the light direction

Result: As guests walk up the stairs, the warm light reflected on the Venice surface creates an elegant, premium ambiance—similar to modern Japanese restaurants in Tokyo.

2.3. Dining & VIP rooms – Preserving the soul of Japanese Modern

Large walls were finished with: + Smooth, even Venice surfaces to maintain minimalism + Neutral tones that highlight wood, furniture & shoji-style lighting + Dual protective layers against oil, moisture, and stains

This area required the most precision: + High flatness + 95–98% color uniformity + No visible tool marks

PUKACO worked with F&B - grade finishing standards to ensure durability and cleanliness.

PUKACO applied a strict finishing system: + Surface treatment & moisture-proofing + Bonding primer + Base coat + Two Venice finishing layers + Anti-stain & oil-resistant topcoat
