Text description provided by the architects. When a lightweight volume fits with a solid base. Architecture designed with simplicity, focusing on form and function to last for decades.
As we designed an entire pure concrete box on the upper floor with considerable overhangs to the front and back, we faced many structural challenges with total control over the concreting, concrete formula, formwork assembly, modulation, and all the technical aspects during concreting, curing, and demolding. It was a very complex process from start to finish because any error or mistake in the process meant we had to dismantle everything and redo it from scratch, as pure concrete doesn't leave much room for error. The result is showcased in the beautiful photos taken by our photographer, Cristiano Bauce.
The refinement of the context lies in the user experience in terms of visual and sensory aspects, not in the simple imposing facade! Pure materials connect us to nature, and slender forms with raw materials create paradoxical sensations to our pragmatic understanding.
The created forms provide a play of light and shadow, stimulating our senses, in addition to the complete integration of landscaping in the exterior and interior of the house. The natural wood brise soleil provides permeability for ventilation and natural lighting while maintaining privacy and controlling the direct incidence of sunlight in the rooms.
The base of the ground floor was a conventional structure and masonry covered with natural cobblestone to follow our project concept.
The back of the house overlooks a canal where we prioritized the view of the pool, balcony, and master suite upstairs.
Inside, the highlight is the staircase rising around the elevator shaft, made of a monolithic exposed concrete structure with natural wood cladding on the steps, also following the same concept as the fireplace with the same material.
The floor plan consists of an access point where we have the circulation distribution with stairs and elevator and a powder room accessing the fully integrated living room with a view of the lake. The open kitchen and dining area, where they receive friends, is integrated with the living room and balcony at the back. A pantry with a service area and bathroom completes the service area of the house. Upstairs we have 3 suites including the master suite plus an office for clients who work from home.
