CAA建筑事务所在北京西山脚下主持设计的大型科创办公建筑群“西山智谷”一期“北·院”近日全部竣工。

“North·Yard,” the first phase of the large-scale technology innovation office campus “West Mountain Innovation Valley,” designed by CAA architects at the foot of Beijing’s Western Hills, has recently been completed.

西山智谷 West Mountain Innovation Valley

“西山智谷 | 北京协同创新园”位于北京海淀苏家坨地区，在西山、香山群山环抱之中，毗邻以颐和园、圆明园、玉泉山为代表的“三山五园” 皇家园林历史文化遗产；这里是被称为“中国硅谷” 的海淀中关村北部外溢的重点发展区，同时也是北京自贸区的核心区域。

“West Mountain Innovation Valley | Beijing Collaborative Innovation Park”is located in Haidian District, Beijing, which is embraced by the Western Hills and the Fragrant Hills. It is adjacent to the historic ‘Three Hills and Five Gardens’ cultural heritage sites (such as the Summer Palace, the Old Summer Palace, and the Yuquan Mountain), enjoying a favorable geographical position rich in cultural and historical resources. This area serves as a key development zone for the northern expansion of Haidian Zhongguancun and the core area of the Beijing Free Trade Zone.

The site of “West Mountain Innovation Valley” is 12 hectares, with a total GFA of about 288,000 sqm. It is divided into three main plots: west, north, and east. Liu Haowei has led CAA architects in the master planning and architectural design of the entire development since 2020. This project was evaluatedas one of Beijing’s “100 Key Scientific and Technological Innovation Projects.”

北·院

North · Yard

“北·院”作为“西山智谷” 一期建设地块，是总体项目中规模最大的建筑组团，总建筑面积约11万平方米，其中地上建筑面积7.2万平方米，地下建筑面积3.9万平方米。这里拟定引入国家重点实验室、人工智能、芯片研发、新能源、石墨烯等高科技研发企业的入驻，成为北京推动全球性科技创新发展的引擎。

“North·Yard”, the first phase of “West Mountain Innovation Valley,”is the largest building campus within the overall project, with a GFAof approximately 111,000 sqm– 72,000 sqm above ground and 39,000 sqm underground. It is intended to host national key laboratories and leading R&D enterprises in fields such as artificial intelligence, chip design, new energy, and graphene, becoming a driving engine for Beijing’s global technological innovation.

In the master plan, “Shanshui Valley” extends from the southwest toward the east, passing through the central green park and meandering into “North·Yard.” It draws the surrounding ecological landscape into the site and evolves into the sunken “Shanshui Square.” CAA integrates the traditional courtyard layout with natural landscape, creating a design that recalls both the spatial order of a courtyard and the layered silhouette of mountains, forming the concept of “Mountain Courtyard.”

山形塔楼从地面升起，围合式的裙房又如“云环”系于山间，构筑成合院式平行空间界面。整体建筑群形态与西山展开对话，以中国传统人文与哲学思想为基底，将东方山水意象与未来建构相融，由山川、河谷、院落共同营造出了未来主义的东方浪漫。

Mountain-shaped towers rise from the ground, while the podium like a “cloud ring” encircles the mountains. Together, they construct an enclosed parallel space, engage in a dialogue with the Western Hills. Based on the harmonious concept of Eastern philosophy, it integrates traditional imagery with the future, jointly creating a futuristic oriental romance with mountains, river valleys and courtyards.

四座山形塔楼朝向最优质的西山景观大幅度扭转，向上生长，伫立云间，形态具有东方山水写意的动势与消隐；同时犹如山式顺势向上收紧，创造出层层退台，既舒缓了上空密度，也使每层空间都向自然敞开，拥抱生态景观。

Four mountain-shaped towers twist toward the prime views of the Western Hills, rising skyward through the clouds.Their forms convey the dynamism and subtlety of traditional Chinese landscape painting. Tapered upward, they create terraced setbacks that reduce upper-floor density while opening each level to the natural landscape.

这些独立小高层规划将作为大型企业或独角兽企业的总部办公大楼，也支持灵活拆分为适合中小企业发展的多元空间。不同尺度与规模的平面布局，可以随企业需求的变化而生长，构成了一片充满未来弹性的创新之地。

These independent high-rise towers are designed as headquarters for large or unicorn enterprises and can be flexibly subdivided to accommodate the growth of small and medium-sized businesses, forming a resilient and adaptable innovation environment.

“云环”裙房的底层大面积架空，使一个周长达400米的超大型围合式裙房轻盈灵动的悬浮于地面之上，萦绕在三座塔楼之间。这种塔楼与裙房连接的渗透式空间体系更具弹性，并带来灵动的共享与社交功能。

The ground level of the “Cloud Ring” podium is largely elevated, allowing this super-sized, 400-meter-perimeter, enclosed podium to float lightly above the ground, winding gracefully among the three towers. This permeable spatial system, connecting the towers and the podium, enhances flexibility and fosters dynamic sharing and social interaction.

“云环”顶部是有机串联起三座塔楼的屋顶花园，也是向市民开放的空中绿地公园。屋顶花园红色步道与下沉庭院GRC三维曲面立面的棕红色语言统一，并与绿植景观互衬，这都是对“三山五园”红墙绿树的遥相呼应，描绘出东方历史人文色彩。

The “Cloud Ring” rooftop features a garden that seamlessly connects the three towers, functioning as a public aerial green park. Its red footpath harmonizes with the reddish-brown GRC double-curved facade in the sunken courtyard, creating a complementary contrast with the surrounding greenery. This design echoes the red walls and green trees of the “Three Hills and Five Gardens,” blending oriental historical and cultural aesthetics into a modern architectural context.

这里规划为中小企业和灵活、共享的综合办公空间，遵循空间的模块化与动态链接原则，辅助社交、协作与思考无界延展，适配未来企业变化发展需求。

The podium is designed to function as a comprehensive, flexible, and shared office space for small and medium-sized enterprises. Adhering to the principles of modularity and dynamic spatial connections, they facilitate boundless opportunities for socializing, collaboration, and creative thinking, adapting to the evolving needs of future enterprises.

“山水之谷”从西南流入园区内庭院，有机连接“北·院”首层与地下一层的休闲商业与公共服务功能，产生灵动的下沉式的慢行商业街区，又延伸至每栋塔楼之间的缝隙，连接起周边的城市景观与公共绿地，形成各个方向为市民开放的流线景观入口。

“Shanshui Valley” flows into the inner courtyard of the park from the southwest, seamlessly connecting the leisure, commercial, and public service functions on the first floor and the basement of the “North·Yard.” This creates a vibrant sunken commercial block. It further extends into the spaces between the towers, linking the surrounding urban landscape and public green areas, and forming streamlined landscaped entrances that are accessible from all directions.

基于经济性与可持续性设计，设计充分利用地下面积的同时，使地下空间获得充足的采光，同时模糊了地上与地下的边界，人们可选择不同层级的路径穿行在下沉式 “山水广场”里，体验流动立体的文化、娱乐、消费、互动。

In line with economic and sustainable design principles, the project makes full use of the underground space, ensuring ample natural daylight and blurring the boundaries between ground area and underground area. People can choose various paths through the sunken “Shanshui Square,” experiencing a fluid environment that integrates culture, entertainment, retail, and social interaction.

立体城市花园

Vertical City Garden

“北·院”从山水河谷的流动，到云环的圆润，再到山形塔楼向上空的硬朗，巧妙地构建出自下而上从柔美到硬朗的空间设计逻辑，寓意从山水自然向未来科技的生长。

From the flowing forms of the Valley, to the rounded elegance of the Cloud Ring, to the boldly upward lines of the mountain-shaped towers, “North·Yard” ingeniously constructs a spatial design logic that transitions from softness to firmness, symbolizing the progression from natural landscape to futuristic technology.

塔楼层层退台、架空的裙房和屋顶花园、地面多个空中连桥，以及下沉庭院直达车库的水流楼梯，共同构成空间流畅、层次丰富的立体步行系统，不仅实现了交通的人车分离，同时又为人们创造了很多意想不到的灰空间，从地上到地下都在向场地内外的自然环境开放、融合。▼空间体系概念，Space system diagram © CAA Architects

The towers’ terraced setbacks, elevated podiums and roof gardens, ground-level aerial bridges, and fluid staircases in the sunken courtyard leading directly to the underground parking collectively form a multi-dimensional pedestrian system with fluid spatiality and rich layering. This design achieves pedestrian-vehicle separation while generating numerous unexpected in-between spaces, integrating seamlessly with the natural environment both inside and beyond the site, from above ground to below.

多层级的自然景观错落交织在建筑群之间，构筑“北·院”成为实际绿化率达到40%的立体城市花园，与西山、香山的自然人文景观展开无限对话。从半山看向这里，中央公园与场地内景观融为一体，犹如水流穿过山石泛起层层涟漪，带有东方气韵的动势，环绕在山形塔楼的周围。

Interwoven multi-level natural landscapes form a vertical city garden in the “North·Yard,” with an actual greening rate of 40%. It engages in an endless dialogue with the natural and cultural landscapes of the Western Hills and the Fragrant Hills. From the mid-levels of the mountain, Central Park and the site’s internal landscapes merge into a unified whole, like water flowing through rocks and creating ripples layer by layer. This evokes the dynamic elegance of oriental charm as it encircles the mountain-shaped towers.

首层绿地景观既与周围自然环境交融，同时又向空中自然延伸至塔楼阳台，向地下渗透直至车库中庭，都展现着从自然到科技的融合、渐变、生长，共同书写一幅虚实相映、自然共生的立体画卷。

The ground-floor green spaces not only blend seamlessly with the surrounding natural environment but also extend upward to the towers’ balconies and downward to the underground parking lot atrium, showcasing a harmonious integration, gradual transformation, and growth from nature to technology, jointly creating a three-dimensional painting that combines the real with the virtual and features a harmonious coexistence of nature.

山水写意的现代转译

A Modern Reinterpretation of Shanshui Aesthetics

主体建筑的幕墙设计延续了东方山水的理念，以中国传统山水画《富春山居图》为灵感，将画中山水的层峦叠嶂与写意皴法，抽象转译为西、北、东三个地块“山、水、云”融合的建筑立面，同时各具特征和细部。又通过数字化和绿色节能技术的运用，营造出各个组团的轻盈和通透感。

The facade design of the main building continues the concept of Oriental landscape. Inspired by the traditional Chinese landscape painting Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains, it abstractly translates the overlapping mountains and freehand brushwork into a building facade that integrates mountains, water, and clouds. Additionally, the twisting forms of each tower generate rich rhythmic variations in the facade design.

疏密有致的幕墙系统不仅展现山水自然的写意之美，更具有高性能遮阳格栅的功能，实现了建筑室内空间的遮阳与节能效果，并根据不同季节与时段的光线变化，为办公人群带来舒适的光影体验。

The well-proportioned facade system not only showcases the freehand beauty of natural landscapes but also serves as a well-performed sunshade trellis, realizing sunshading and energy-saving effects for the indoor spaces. It also creates a comfortable lighting experience for office staff by adjusting to the varying light conditions of different seasons and times of day.

绿色与可持续性

Green and Sustainability

CAA为“西山智谷”总体项目建构了完整的绿色可持续性体系。以 “山水之谷”构筑的立体绿色环廊将“西·山、北·院、东·川”三大地块的自然景观互联互通，并向周边自然环境延伸，形成一个城市尺度的绿色生态网络。

CAA has developed a comprehensive green sustainability system for “West Mountain Innovation Valley.” The vertical pedestrian corridor interconnects the landscapes across three plots and extends into the surrounding natural environment, forming an urban-scale green ecological network.

其中，“北·院”主体建筑的挑檐幕墙设计为双层铝板构造，使金属饰面板内侧形成自然风流动，大幅减少了铝板与龙骨在北京夏天剧烈的日照照射下存储的辐射热。▼幕墙节能分析，Curtain wall energy analysis © CAA Architects

The facade design of “North·Yard” main cantilever canopy features a double-layer aluminum panel structure. This design allows natural wind flow through the gap between layers, significantly reducing the radiant heat absorbed by the aluminum panel and keels under the fierce summer sunlight in Beijing.

由此，“北·院”结合了绿色风环境、烟囱效应、降低热岛效应、噪音控制、雨水收集和水土涵养等一系列可持续策略与技术，共同实现了中国绿色建筑最高等级的三星标准。

“North·Yard” incorporates a series of sustainable strategies and technologies, including green wind air-flow, utilization of the chimney effect, mitigation of the heat island effect, noise control, rainwater collection, and soil and water conservation. Together, these measures enable the project to be certified by the China Green Building Council (CGBC) with the highest three-star qualification.

龙梯

Dragon Spiral Staircase

自园区西南的主入口进入云环的内院，人们可以看到一个超大型悬挑钢结构旋转“龙梯”。它既是实现裙房屋顶花园为市民开放，连通地面绿地广场的重要垂直交通，又以流畅的曲线和悬挑的姿态，呈现强烈又优雅的动态美，宛如一条巨龙自地面腾空而起，成为“北·院”一处艺术与技术，美学与功能完全融合的公共艺术装置。

Entering the inner courtyard of the Cloud Ring from the main entrance in the southwest of the site, people can see a record-breaking-dimension cantilever steel ‘Dragon Spiral Staircase’. It is not only an important vertical transportation for opening the podium roof garden to the public and connecting the ground green square, but also presents a strong and elegant dynamic beauty with its smooth curves and cantilevered posture. It is like a huge dragon rising from the ground, becoming a public art installation in the “North · Yard” where art and technology, aesthetics and function are seamlessly integrated.

消隐内外的边界

Blurring the Boundary

室内公共空间的设计延续了建筑 “山、水、云”的理念。首层建筑幕墙采用高透超白玻璃，从视觉上消隐了建筑内外的边界，带来了室外自然与室内景观的融合。

The design of the interior public spaces continues the architectural vision of “mountain, river, cloud.” On the ground floor, ultra-clear high-transparency glass is used for the façade, visually dissolving the boundary between inside and outside while allowing outdoor nature to merge seamlessly with the interior landscape.

大堂尽可能通透开放，唯一的核心筒墙面使用水云纹大理石板拼接而成，线性灯光从角度不断变化的石板缝隙中透射出来，仿佛一种强烈的内在能量即刻从开裂的山石中迸发而出。有机韵律的阳极氧化铝板将顶部复杂的机电设备巧妙的隐藏在顶部，同时如山间的水波荡漾，空间的艺术性与功能性结合在这里得以展现。

The lobby is kept as open and transparent as possible. The only enclosed core wall is clad in book-matched marble with fluid “water-and-cloud” veining, where linear lighting slips through the shifting gaps between the stone panels, as if an inner force were breaking forth from within the mountain itself. Above, anodized aluminum panels with an organic rhythm conceal the complex MEP systems while undulating like ripples of water in the mountains—bringing artistry and function into a unified expression.

从山形塔楼到云环裙房，从山水广场到云上花园，“北·院”所展现的是CAA核心设计观念“东方未来主义”在当代中国建筑的具体实践与延伸；它更以东方山水为灵魂，展现了中国智慧、智能与智造面向未来、面向全球的愿景与象征。

From the mountain-shaped tower to the cloud-ring podium, from Shanshui Square to the Roof Garden, “North·Yard” embodies the concrete practice and extension of CAA’s core design philosophy of “Oriental Futurism”in contemporary Chinese architecture. With the Eastern landscape as its soul, it brings the spatial narrative to life, moving from nature to humanity. With future technology as its focus, it envisions Chinese intelligent manufacturing leading global scientific and technological innovation.

在这里，“自然”不再是科技的对立面，而是人类创造力本质的根源；“未来”也不再是单一的想象叙事，而是深植于传统文脉的东方浪漫诗篇。

Here, “nature” is no longer the opposite of technology but the dwelling place of human creativity’s essence; “future” is no longer just a technical proposition, but an Oriental poem deeply rooted in cultural heritage.
