Luxe Lake is a new community planned for a population of approximately 100,000 residents. DTJ provided conceptual landscape architecture and visioning for early phases of the project on several different parcels within the Community.

Landscape Architecture and Visioning

The C8 community is a model home showcase area located on one of the many lakes

within the larger Luxe Lake community. Visitors arrive via water taxi to begin a unique journey. The community is designed around an outdoor sculptural garden with meandering walkways, lush colorful landscaping with rustling streams and naturalistic waterfalls. Situated on a hillside, the contemporary villas “peek” out of the tree canopy to long views out over the lakes.

The lush landscapes and bold, contemporary design of the Y8 neighborhood

is a juxtaposition of clean architectural lines of the New Oriental style and verdant plantings rooted back to the ancient gardens of the east. The experiential gardens of the community make the journey through the meandering Zen style walkways one to remember, with frequent oasis points dappled with fragrant vegetation and the soft undertone of murmuring fountains.

A modern architectural style with a retro flair allowed for a bold yet fun landscape architectural treatment for the C1-2 neighborhood.

The soft corners and bold statements made in the architecture are expressed in the paving motif that weaves through the compact site and creates an interesting canvas when viewed from the residential high-rise towers. Sculptural, vibrantly painted elements punctuate the central plaza and define areas for shade and café seating. With the help of dense canopy trees, an overhead presence is created to tame the scale of the towers that flank the plaza. The materiality of playfulness of the architecture manifests itself in the perimeter privacy walls that encompass the podium site. The bold articulation of the walls contrasted with the loose, lush ebb and flow of the planting creates an interesting and unique street presence.

The strong architectural character of C2-1 called for a bold, edgy yet simple landscape design where the objective was to set the buildings off instead of trying to compete or align with them. A strong contrast was created between the soft landscape mounds and the bold architectural striped paving design. Sinuous paving bands weave through the site and create a wonderful composition when viewed from the high-rise towers and punctuate the striped paving motif. The perimeter privacy walls were designed as an extension of the architecture and provide a visual uniqueness with their integrated terraces, signage expression and contrasting materiality.
