This thoughtful renovation in Washington, DC’s AU Park neighborhood transforms a traditional Colonial into a warm, modern family home while preserving its classic charm. The project began by replacing a dated screened porch with a bright, spacious family room addition—seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor living. A previously underwhelming kitchen addition was removed to make way for a new rear extension, featuring a light-filled eat-in kitchen that serves as the heart of the home.

Additional upgrades include a newly designed mudroom to improve everyday functionality and storage. The attic level was expanded with new front and rear dormers, creating space for two additional bedrooms and a full bath. Above the garage, a new master suite was added, providing a private retreat for the homeowners.
