Hotelproject Julien

The hotel project is located in the historic centre of Antwerp. In 2001, the first building was renovated; after thorough analysis and study, 11 rooms were created. In 2008, an adjoining building was purchased to expand the hotel within the same concept, adding another 11 rooms, a bar, lounge, meeting room and breakfast restaurant. The result today is a dynamic and cosmopolitan city hotel. Thanks to two internal patios, all rooms receive ample daylight and a sense of seclusion. On the ground floor these patios offer a calming

hortus conclusus

in the heart of the city.

The vaulted cellar spaces were excavated and now house a spa and wellness zone, revealing once again the roots of the building’s centuries-old structure. A public rooftop terrace offers 360° views over the city.

The motto “making the ordinary extraordinary” was a guiding principle in the design and interior of the hotel: stripping existing archetypes to their essence and using them well — no special effects, just optimising what matters.

A disciplined budget approach also ensured an economically viable project.
