Grand Hotel

DTJ led the design for The Esther Williams Pool renovation at the Grand Hotel located on Mackinac Island in northern Michigan. The Grand Hotel is beloved by generations of guests who have memories of family vacations to the island. The historic hourglass form of the pool was respected while making significant topographic improvements to establish parallel curvilinear lounge terraces which allow views to the pool and to The Straits of Mackinac and beyond. The water volume of the pool is 40% less than the original pool which greatly reduces energy and water resources. The adjacent Pool House was renovated and expanded as part of the $10M project.
