CENTRE CANAL BRUSSELS 2018 — The outstanding quality of the Centre Canal is on the one hand the impressive large mass of the former workshops and on the other the conglomerate of different structures brought together to form a larger whole. Four outstanding areas together form a dense sequence of sheltered urban spaces that can be enjoyed as an architectural event regardless of cultural programme.

The factory was once home to the automotive industry and is thus designed for robust use. The floors, walls, and roofs can withstand any impact; natural light streams in through the filigree roof construction. The somehow oversized components now provide a home to culture. The old smell of the factory hangs in the room and will be integrated into today’s cultural productions.
