Cyril Pavlů | Voronoi Crystal Gallery

Voronoi Crystal Gallery is a new gallery of modern art and design located in Pilsen, Czech Republic. The main design of the building was inspired by a Voronoi tessellation. An algorithm based on a Voronoi tessellation was used to create the volume of the building as well as the structural design and construction system. The building shell itself is made of 60 polygonal surfaces creating a shape of a crystal. The gallery is situated on the very north end of the building lot, the rest of the lot is left as a public space. There are three floors and an underground floor in the gallery. The main entrance is on the southern side of the building, another entrances are located on the underground level. The gallery interior is designed as a big open space, which contains a cafe restaurant and an audio-visual hall in addition to the exhibition space. An underground parking is also located in the building lot, it creates a statically independent object and therefore is not a part of this Bachelor's Thesis.
