The new Cossitt Library upholds its long-standing tradition of serving the needs of local Memphians.

The reimagined Cossitt Library blends historic charm with modern innovation, offering vibrant, flexible spaces that inspire creativity, connection, and community.

Groundswell collaborated with the Memphis Public Libraries to reimagine the historic Cossitt Library, transforming it into a dynamic community hub that honors its rich heritage while embracing modern design and functionality. The renovation introduces co-working spaces, a café, and a podcast studio, fostering creativity and connection among patrons. The design pays homage to the building's architectural history by preserving original elements, while incorporating vibrant tile accents and bright colors to create an inviting atmosphere. Flexible and comfortable spaces accommodate a variety of community needs, ensuring the library serves as an equitable and engaging resource for all Memphians.
