Interior Designer’s Thoughts

The homeowners wanted their home to reflect their cultural roots and requested a Peranakan style with a modern twist. A key aspect in the design brief was to have storage solutions and a varied selection of versatile materials that would be easy to blend with their traditional elements.  Given the compact space of the unit, the interior designer suggested built-in cabinetry and integrated a hidden door that leads to the store room. The open-concept kitchen and an island counter allows for casual and intimate get-together with family and friends. Combining the traditional prints and wooden textures balances out the warmth and cool tones. Intricate details can be seen in the hardware detailings of the kitchen and bathroom accessories, adding compelling vintage charm to the contemporary interior. For a cohesive look, a fresh pop of colour with green vertical tiles and tropical motif adds visual interest to the bathroom space.
