AKHIN Inclusive Village is a transformative initiative designed to rescue, rehabilitate, and empower these vulnerable youths. It is a self-sustaining residential center where they receive education, vocational training, and life skills. This initiative restores dignity, fosters independence, and creates lasting change.

Introduction

AKHIN Inclusive Village was initiated to address the rising crisis of street youngsters in Nigeria, who face abuse, stigma, and lack of opportunities. Many of these children are victims of family breakdown, poverty, forced labor, and violence, leaving them trapped in a cycle of survival with no access to education or vocational training.

Having personally experienced life on the streets, Israel Balogun, the founder, recognized the urgent need for a safe, structured, and empowering space where homeless youths could rebuild their lives. Since 2019, AKHIN has rescued and trained over 100 youngsters, but challenges like limited resources and inadequate shelter made long - term impact difficult.

The AKHIN Inclusive Village is designed as a self - sustaining, community - based residential hub to provide shelter, rehabilitation, and skill acquisition. By integrating agriculture, solar energy, and vocational training, it ensures economic independence, social reintegration, and a future free from homelessness. This initiative is a long - term solution to a growing humanitarian crisis, ensuring that no child is left behind.

The AKHIN Inclusive Village is designed to break the cycle of homelessness by equipping street youngsters with education, vocational skills, and life training, ensuring their long - term self - sufficiency and contributing to community development.

Core team

The initiative to build a permanent space for the homeless was inspired by a powerful question from our participants: "CAN’T WE BUILD HOMES FOR EVERY HOMELESS FAMILY?"

We knew this was more than just a dream—it was a challenge that required action. To make this vision a reality, we reached out to organizations and individuals for support. Through collective efforts, we have made significant progress:

Israel Balogun (Founder & Visionary Leader) – Once homeless, I turned my life around after surviving a gang fight at age 22. I returned to school, earned a master’s degree, and founded this organization to help others like me.

Ayomide Aina – Rescued in 2019, now part of our IT team.

Happiness – Escaped abuse in 2019, now a skilled digital marketer.

Clement, Christiana, Abdulmojid, Oluwaseun, and Kofoworola are all Dedicated team members ensuring our youth succeed.

We’re supported by passionate volunteers and partners:

OSV Foundation Fellowship funded our land purchase with $10,000.

Journeyman International provides architectural support.

Today, we operate 3 active centers across Nigerian states, have rescued 103 homeless youngsters, and secured 83 square meters of land with architectural design and government approval to build a village that will rehabilitate and train 200 homeless youths annually.

Where are we now

We’ve made progress toward building our village for homeless youth. With a grant from OSV Foundation and individual donations, we secured over 34,000 sqm of land. Journeyman International provided a full architectural design, and we’ve obtained all necessary government approvals. We’ve acquired a clay brick molding machine for eco-friendly construction and received a borehole donation for water access. Our team includes 18 trained youths and 2 building experts, ready to start construction.

With the needed funding, the AKHIN Inclusive Village will rescue, rehabilitate, and empower over 200 homeless youngsters annually, providing them with shelter, vocational training, and life skills. This funding will create a self-sustaining hub, where participants grow food, generate solar power, and access education. It will reduce crime, break cycles of poverty, and foster economic independence. Every donation helps transform a life, turning victims of homelessness into skilled professionals, entrepreneurs, and community leaders—creating a brighter future for all.
