Description
Working on behalf of West Pharma DMOD Architects have been requested to Manage, Design and Deliver a new medical devices facility on a 7.2 acre site, fronting onto Damastown road and Damastown Green. The physical context of the proposal is an established industrial area with facilities similar in nature and scale along Damastown road and also small enterprise units adjacent on Damastown Green.
Our Approach
A design challenge was to arrange large scale building volumes in a way which would successfully integrate into the existing site and wider context. Design consideration and layout was informed by functional relationships and ultimately included material choices, façade treatment, hard and soft landscaping and amenity areas to deliver a building which conveys a simplicity in style, representing good industrial architecture. The overall massing of the facility benefits greatly through the relationship between the glass 3 storey office building, around which the solid volumes of the clean room volumes are arranged.
Execution
DMOD worked closely with the client and all team members to design and merge successfully with its neighbours along Damastown road and make a contribution to both the built environment, industry and employment for the area. The building development acknowledges the need for clear navigation for both people and vehicular movement entering and exiting the facility
