Located in Braddon, Canberra, the Midnight precinct, designed by FK, includes a Marriott Autograph Hotel, dining options and 250 apartments and 2,500sqm of commercial space.

Distinctly modern, the inspiration stems from the existing streetscape in the inner - north while bringing a new wave of design to Canberra.

Midnight signifies the direction of residential, hotel and precinct design for the city. The neighbouring streets encompass both traditional and trendy environments; the design combines elements from both representations of Canberra into the project.

As its name suggests, the interior features dark tones contrasted with white to create a sleek aesthetic, complemented by custom artwork from Thomas Bucich in the hotel rooms. Drawing on Braddon’s vibrant lifestyle, Midnight shows the latest in premium hotel design for the city with the hotel component located at the inner ring of the building, surrounded by apartments on the outer ring.

While glass is a big feature across the exterior on all sides, the western facing façade features protruding blade-like elements that extend to give the top of the building its own fabric and the east facing façade features smaller elements that reflect the finer grain of Braddon.

Another interesting feature that adds to the exclusive feel is the entry to the hotel lobby, positioned below ground level. The sunken entry gives a subtle indication of what is inside. It plays into the ‘after dark’ aura of the entire building and offers this to hotel guests from their first point of arrival.
