Jenfeld Mitte Hamburg
A new, forward-looking and particularly sustainable residential quarter is being developed in Jenfeld, in the eastern part of the Wandsbek district. The construction of three new residential buildings on construction sites 8, 10 and 12 will create a total of 90 rental apartments, commercial space on the ground floor and a shared underground car park. The aim is to accentuate the centre of Jenfelder Au in the area of the central square and to enhance its urban quality. The buildings interact with the Cascade Park in terms of design and form a coherent ensemble that connects the large-scale barracks buildings with the small-scale townhouse structure of the surrounding area. The volumes are differentiated within the development plan: the L-shaped structure on construction site 10 is divided into three interlocking cubes, construction site 8 consists of two interlocking structures, while construction site 12 has a more modest height with five storeys. This creates an ensemble that conveys order, scale and plasticity at the same time. The consistent stringency of the structures is broken up by subtle differentiations such as projections and recesses, changes in materials and a differentiated colour concept. The result is an ensemble that impresses with its clarity and order on the one hand, and on the other hand develops an identity-forming effect through its complexity and depth of detail.
