Description

This project delivers a 151-bedroom nursing home in North Dublin. The home is carefully designed to meet the growing demand for modern, dignified elderly care in a supportive and homely environment.

Our Approach

Occupying 9,742 square metres over three storeys, the design is informed by best-practice healthcare planning and a commitment to resident wellbeing. Bedrooms and care units, ranging from general nursing to dementia and palliative care, are arranged to maximise natural light, encourage intuitive wayfinding, and foster a sense of community. Social spaces, internal courtyards, and glazed circulation routes provide a variety of spatial experiences, balancing privacy with connection. The material palette, massing, and orientation are all considered to soften the building’s presence within its suburban context.

Execution

Architectural form and landscaping work in tandem: improved access leads to 38 car parking spaces (4 accessible), 20 covered cycle stands, and 3,874 square metres of landscaped open space to enhance resident wellbeing.
