The Cyprus University of Technology’s Media School in Limassol, Cyprus, is designed as a dynamic and interconnected network of both enclosed and open learning and workshop spaces. This innovative layout includes a variety of facilities, ranging from lecture theatres to specialized print and robotics workshops. The design takes full advantage of the favorable climate, incorporating external classrooms, workshops, and exhibition spaces to enhance the learning experience.

The building’s topology features layered floors with distinct purposes. The open and transparent floors are dedicated to communal and informal learning, fostering collaboration and interaction among students. In contrast, the functional floors are reserved for traditional classrooms, providing structured and focused educational environments.

A key architectural element is the interplay between mass and lightness, achieved through a structural crisscrossed lattice and facade. This design not only adds aesthetic value but also supports the building’s structural integrity. The combination of these elements creates a vibrant and versatile educational space that encourages both formal and informal learning, making the most of the natural surroundings and promoting a sense of community within the university.
