Our client bought a spacious plot with forest on the edge of Den Bosch. They want to build a modern and energy-neutral villa here. Our design feature is characterized by a closed front and an open back, ensuring that all living areas always have plenty of natural light.

The kitchen-diner plays a crucial role in our design. Logistically, this is best placed on the north side. By linking it to a void, we also bring in sunlight and daylight from other sides. On the floor plan, the kitchen, living room and lounge area each have their own place, but are still connected by sight lines throughout the house.

The rear facade is completely transparent, which brings the forest into the interior space. At the front, a large garden wall embraces the house, with a sheltered patio where the owners can sit out of the wind. For the construction we used stone, steel and burnt black Shou Sugi Ban wood.
