分子云（Molecular Cloud）丨法国卡昂丨Vincent Leroy

为纪念卡昂建城千年，法国艺术家Vincent Leroy呈现了一件悬浮于诺曼底上空的纪念性公共艺术作品——《分子云》（Molecular Cloud）。这件装置宛如由闪耀球体组成的星群悬停于空中，模糊了梦境与工程、诗性想象与科学精度之间的界限。

For the Millennium of the city of Caen, French artist Vincent Leroy unveils a monumental artwork floating above Normandy: Molecular Cloud. Suspended in the air like a constellation of shimmering spheres, the installation blurs the line between dream and engineering — between poetic vision and scientific precision.

作品坐落于卡昂新半岛片区的核心位置，正对历史悠久的Abbaye aux Dames。《分子云》在此连接起过去、现在与未来。镜面不锈钢球体不断反射并叠加城市影像，营造出持续变化、如梦似幻的景观。天空、建筑与行人交织成一种流动的视觉体验，随着每一次行走与凝视而不断变化

Set at the heart of Caen’s new peninsula district, facing the historic Abbaye aux Dames, Molecular Cloud connects past, present, and future. Its mirrored stainless-steel spheres reflect and multiply the city infinitely, creating an ever-shifting, dreamlike landscape. The sky, the architecture, and the passers-by merge into a fluid vision that transforms with every step and every glance.

Stepping beneath the suspended sculpture, visitors enter the cloud itself. Surrounded by mirrored forms, they rediscover the Norman sky — a sky of constant change, full of subtle light and fleeting moods. The experience becomes a poetic surprise: a suspended window onto infinity, revealing the quiet beauty of the everyday.

不同于许多城市公共装置，《分子云》没有任何人工照明。它完全依循自然光的节奏而存在——阳光、云层、城市与天空的反射共同塑造其形态。这一选择强化了作品的沉思气质：每一个时刻、每一次气候变化，都会带来新的色彩、音调与感受。

Unlike many urban installations, Molecular Cloud has no artificial lighting. It lives entirely by the rhythm of natural light — the sun, the clouds, the reflections of the city and the sky. This choice heightens its contemplative quality: every hour, every atmospheric shift brings new colours, new tones, new sensations.

Visible from afar, Molecular Cloud becomes a landmark — a visual beacon inviting people to look up. Yet despite its monumental scale, the work remains intimate. It’s a place to gather, to take photos, to pause and daydream beneath a floating mirror.

With Molecular Cloud, Leroy offers Caen a fragment of sky — a poetic, reflective landscape where science meets wonder and the unexpected emerges at every moment.
