Building on the master plan for the former Abattoirs in Anderlecht-Curegem (Brussels), the Manufakture project consolidates the site’s program into a single building. This includes food production workshops and approximately 500 parking spaces, all centered around the Great Market Hall, which was constructed at the end of the 19th century.

The project follows the concept of a «Productive City», transforming industrial development along the canal while maintaining the site’s traditional activities alongside new uses. In a second phase, the project adds a public swimming pool on the roof, further transforming the industrial site into a vibrant public space. This integration creates an energy-efficient cycle, with the swimming pool’s heating needs complementing the cooling needs of the workshops.

The program is organized in three stacked duplexes: the ground floor hosts the workshops, with a mezzanine for technical spaces; above, two floors of convertible parking are followed by the public swimming pool pergola. The design offers double-height spaces that overlook the public area in front of the Great Market Hall.

The project uses an 18-meter-long prefabricated concrete structure, transported by river, providing flexible layout options over time. The two-story parking structure can be dismantled and repurposed as workshops in the future.
