Visual Study Of Oasis Identity: Architecture, community and date culture
"The project is located in the heart of Bahariya Oasis, directly facing the Oasis Heritage Museum and along the Wahat–Farafra Road, granting it a strategic location that connects it to key cultural and touristic landmarks. It is surrounded by fertile agricultural lands and several hotels, and it benefits from its close proximity to the English Mountain Reserve, which enhances the site's environmental and touristic value."
CONCEPT
Overall Project Concept: A specialized center for researching and developing date palms using genetic engineering and modern technologies. It covers the full production cycle—from research to cultivation, and marketing—while promoting sustainability and reducing waste through interactive community learning.
Architectural-Functional Concept: The design consists of three main masses based on function and context: the retail zone connects with the community, the library aligns with nearby farmland, and the gallery faces Gebel El Englizi, linking all parts. The layout fosters interaction between research, education, and the public within an environmentally conscious framework.
