极简圣堂

Since the XIX century, almost nothing new has happened in Russian Orthodox Church architecture. Modern temples are usually composed of elements of existing temples. The ROC needs to create a modern Church, which will attract a new generation of believers — people born after 2000. The temple should be minimalistic and functional.

The new church is freed from the abundance of details: it is the house of God in its purest form. This is achieved by the absence of internal supports and partitions, almost virgin-white walls, and a transparent wall around the altar that opens onto the Setun river valley: the worldly on the back of the heavenly. The sunlight streams in through seven windows in walls and six light openings in the upper dome drum.

The project is based on the centric cross-dome concept. The dome segues into the drum. The roof visually looks as if it touches the ground.

Currently, the project has been approved by the Moscow Patriarchate. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2021.
