Text description provided by the architects. The Requena house is located in a gated community on the outskirts of Santa Cruz, Bolivia. Its implementation responds to the conditions of the terrain, characterized by a steep slope and abundant vegetation, aspects that determine both its spatial organization and its material expression. The social area is located on the highest level of the site, resting on the first floor volume. This arrangement guarantees the best views for the most permanent spaces, framing the treetops and establishing a privileged relationship with the landscape. In turn, the roof of the lower volume is conceived as an accessible terrace, configuring a patio in height that reinforces the continuity between the house and its natural surroundings.

The private area, arranged in the lower volume, is oriented towards the lower trees located on the site's façade. The privacy of these spaces remains intact thanks to the topography, which elevates this volume above the subsoil. From the vehicular access, it is perceived as a second floor, gaining independence from the street through the difference in level and plant density. At the base of the complex, the access to the subsoil and the garage is articulated by two curved walls of exposed concrete, whose function is to contain the terrain and adjust the level of the vehicular entrance to the street level. This same concrete defines the lower volume and the subsoil, establishing a contrast with the metal cladding of the upper volume.

The metal cladding here acquires a value beyond its material dimension. The roof slab of the upper floor is thinned at the ends in order to stylize the structure. To achieve this, the metal cladding is limited to covering this thinner sector, generating a visual effect in which the edge of the slab appears detached from the rest of the shaved concrete structure, thus reinforcing the compositional clarity of the whole.

En la base del conjunto, el acceso al subsuelo y al garaje se articulan mediante dos muros curvos de hormigón visto ripado, cuya función es contener el terreno y ajustar el nivel del ingreso vehicular a la cota de la calle. Este mismo acabado de hormigón define el volumen inferior y el subsuelo, estableciendo un contraste con el revestimiento metálico del volumen superior.

El revestimiento metálico adquiere aquí un valor más allá de su dimensión material. La losa de cubierta de la planta alta se afina en los extremos con el objetivo de estilizar la estructura. Para lograrlo, el revestimiento metálico se limita a cubrir ese sector más delgado, generando un efecto visual en el que el borde de la losa aparece desligado del resto de la estructura de hormigón ripado, reforzando así la claridad compositiva del conjunto.
