A Panoramic Penthouse crowns a contemporary roofline in Portici, Italy, where 2DA Labdesign crafts an apartment for a young Neapolitan entrepreneur. Rich palettes, graphic surfaces, and an all-glass kitchen draw the eye back to the city beyond the terraces, turning the penthouse into a vivid conversation with Naples. Each room leans into color and pattern while keeping a direct visual thread to the panoramic views outside.

Light filters through the glazed kitchen volume and slides across colored surfaces, catching textures in quick flashes. From the terraces, the interior reads as a bright, layered landscape.
This penthouse in Portici, Italy is planned as a panoramic residence for a young Neapolitan entrepreneur, designed by 2DA Labdesign in 2024. The project centers on a vivid interior palette and a tight relationship with the surrounding terraces, using color, pattern, and material to register the city’s presence inside. Every room returns to that idea: daily life plays out against surfaces that recall the streets, alleys, and skyline of contemporary Naples.
Kitchen As Glass Epicenter
At the heart of the penthouse, the kitchen becomes a transparent core. Glass walls and ceiling close it in yet keep sightlines open toward the terraces that wrap around it. From the cooking island, the inhabitant stands inside a luminous box, watching reflections slide across cabinetry while the city’s light shifts during the day. This central room acts as both working hub and visual anchor, pulling activity inward while leaving the perimeter for outdoor movement and views.
Textures Echo The Streets
Vertical slat textures and graphic motifs on tiles and wallpaper recall the narrow vicoli of Naples. They stretch along corridors and walls, virtually extending the urban fabric across the apartment. Surfaces carry linear rhythms that suggest facades and balconies, so the inhabitant moves through a layered interior that reflects the city’s dense grain. Color stays assertive yet controlled, giving each room a distinct mood while still speaking the same urban dialect.
Graphic Wall As City Map
In the living area, a large-scale artwork by architect Fabio D’Alema turns the TV wall into a graphic portrait of Naples from above. The geometry of the city is printed as a giant image on fabric-based wallcovering, so the surface gains both texture and cartographic depth. When the room lights dim, this wall reads almost like a night map, with lines and blocks holding the memory of streets beyond the glazing. The seating group gathers in front of this backdrop, so everyday viewing and social time unfold against a stylized urban grid.
Night Rooms With Skyline Color
The night zone carries the same intensity, tuned to rest. Geometric, oversized tiles line surfaces and echo the skyline outside, their shapes catching early and late light. Mustard tones and raspberry lacquers warm the bedroom, recalling the colors of sunrise and sunset that wash the terrace edges. The bed faces a broad pane of glass, so waking and falling asleep align with the horizon, tying private rituals to the city beyond the railings.
