The Public Villa in Rauterpark aims to restore and enhance the park’s historical and natural integrity while introducing a new community centre. Once the garden of the director’s villa, the park lost its original structure after the villa was demolished. The design reintroduces the park’s orientation, positioning the new community centre on the former villa site, restoring sightlines, paths, and relationships.

The building’s white, simple appearance ensures visibility, contributing to the park’s aesthetics and security. Compact yet striking, it serves as a focal point without overwhelming the green space. This new building transcends its present function. The public villa is flexible, offering spaces for sports, events, and neighbourhood activities. The ground floor houses a bar and park supervisor spaces, while the upper floor features a large multipurpose room with views of the park. Illuminated at night, this upper floor acts as a beacon for safety, providing visibility and security after dark.

Constructed with vandalism-resistant materials like smooth white bricks and metal windows, the building ensures durability and minimal maintenance. The Rauterpark project celebrates the park’s historical significance, enhancing its communal value and offering a vibrant space that blends past and present for the neighbourhood.
