Apartment in Kerobokan, Bali, Indonesia
Project Overview : A modern minimalist 12-room apartment in Kerobokan, Bali, currently under development through the adaptive reuse of an existing building. The main challenge lies in transforming the structure into a functional apartment by integrating new MEP systems, reworking layouts, and upgrading services while maintaining spatial efficiency and a clean architectural language.
Design Concept : The architectural and interior approach embraces modern minimalism, expressed through clean geometry, restrained material palettes, and warm neutral tones. Natural textures such as wood are introduced to soften the minimal language, creating calm and timeless spaces that feel both refined and livable.
Design Challenge : The primary challenge of this project lies in adapting an old building into a fully functional apartment. Existing structural and spatial limitations required careful reconfiguration of layouts while maintaining proportional and efficient room planning.
A major technical challenge involved the installation of entirely new MEP systems, including plumbing, electrical, and mechanical works, to meet contemporary residential standards. These systems needed to be seamlessly integrated without disrupting the minimalist aesthetic.
