The Wave, Amsterdam

The Overhoeks area in Amsterdam-Noord features a grid-based ensemble of residential blocks. At the edge of this new residential neighborhood and the temporary Hellingpark stands The Wave, situated close to the dynamic waters of the IJ and the Eye Filmmuseum.

The Wave consists of 58 condominiums and is distinguished by its large, undulating outdoor spaces that wrap around every side of the building—alternating between symmetrical and asymmetrical. The water theme is emphasized by a brick pearlescent effect. A range of softly tinted bricks creates a color gradient in the curved sections of the balconies. From a distance, the building appears white and glossy, but up close, it comes to life with seven colors of stone visible as speckles.

The high base, entrance, and lobby exude openness and energy. Space has been provided for social interactions, such as dining clubs, with a fully equipped kitchen readily available. A communal inner garden offers a relaxing space amid greenery.

The dynamic urban living in The Wave has been enthusiastically received by its new residents.
