With the removal of the railway, the Rail Corridor will become an important green artery accessible to people for recreation and enjoyment. It will also become a biodiverse corridor serving communities that had for 150 years been separated by the railway land owned by Malaysia. The Master Plan attempted to show how different precincts could be enhanced by the sensitive insertion of activities while increasing biodiversity and promoting ecological literacy through education. Applying ABC/WSUD strategies, the railway Master Plan encourages a return to nature and respects the objectives of Singapore's goal for sustainable developments in the city.
