Sharon Public Library
LLB designed the 29,000 SF new building with 3 levels including a basement. Our design seeks to meet the needs of various age groups and features a children’s area with an activity room and storytime space, numerous study rooms for students of all ages, and a local history room for the Town’s archives. Based on community input, we designed a large flexible meeting space which can be divided to accommodate 2 groups. To support the diverse population, our design incorporates 2 meeting rooms with ESL classes in mind. We included a Tech Hub for robotics and programming classes for teens and an Innovation Center for activities like 3D printing and laser cutting. Looking to the future, a Media Lab will provide an opportunity to create movies, music, and other digital media.
Our exterior design compliments the historic downtown by recreating the Center School that once stood on the site. We worked extensively with the Sharon Historic Commission on the language for the facade throughout the design process.
