The new Central Bank of Libya is intended as a monument to Libya’s independence and financial strength. It is the new magnum opus in the skyline of the capital and is anchored within Tripoli’s urban masterplan. The Central Bank of Libya is located in a park as an iconic landmark expressing confidence, transparency, and reliability while conforming to the highest security standards with a clear separation of sensitive and public areas. While the roof features peaks to house meeting rooms and directors’ offices and to create terraces, arches on the ground level mark the entrances and serve as strategic openings in the building to create transparency and visual links between the inner courtyard and the outside context. Views of the surrounding context guide the sculptural quality of the building.
