The brief asked for an architectural and urban solution that privilege urbanity and relationship with the context. Located at a beautiful site on top of a hill with poetic views to the Mediterranean Sea the context demanded in our view a scheme that could solve the opposition between a new colossal hospital in the centre of the area and a typical informal settlement (mostly inhabited by Arab immigrants) located a few meters from the site. The high-density requirements of the plot combined with height and budget restrictions asked for an integral solution to all the above issues. Our proposal Vivienda de Patron (a spanish play word) aims to transform the mentioned situations into key decision guidelines. The design is a layered strategy that consists of an intricate ground level that provides intimacy and shadows, followed by the uses of collective terraces and finally semidetached cubes hosting most of the program. The scheme allows for most of the units to enjoy the landscape around them in several directions.
