Overview

The wooden folly is an installation in wood situated in the peaceful town of Fiskars in southern Finland. It consists of an inner structure in aspen and an outer construction in elm. All joints and details are in wood.

The folly is intended to be a quiet place in the woods; a space for meditation and joy of nature.

It is a simple space with openings towards the cardinal directions, in addition to an opening to the sky and an opening in the floor for the entrance.

The project was made possible by students and staff of the Helsinki University of Technology, Fiskars Oy and the cabinetmaker Kari Virtanen.
