The storm water pump stations in Miami Beach are a new infrastructure that responds to an emerging issue for both Miami Beach and the planet at large – climate change. Rather than suppress this layer within the urban fabric, our creation of the screens provide an opportunity for awareness. Specifically the Purdy Avenue station sits within a landscaped area and is designed as a vertically perched urban marquee. Utilizing graphic shapes as well as camouflaging color, it alternately calls attention to itself as well as provides a protective coat around the pump station.
