AG VESPA (Autonoom Gemeentebedrijf voor Vastgoed En StadsProjecten van de stad Antwerpen) needed a new location for their 115 employees. A fitting location was found in Berchem in the “Groen Kwartier”, the former military hospital site.

The old General Staff building received a new concept that allowed the building to be flexibly used on its four floors.

Tubular designed furniture refers to the typical hospital beds used in the building’s early years. The trapezoid shape is based on the idea that every participant during a meeting should have a good view on the others enhancing a “round table” effect. The other furniture provides a cosy atmosphere to make all employees feel at home.

The lobby is the pinnacle of this concept since it allows guests and personnel to meet and discuss informal issues over a cup of coffee.
