+/- Fountain

A proposal for a public fountain on the square of an small colonial era town in Colombia. The ground plane of the stone plaza is distorted slightly to create a raised mound (+) and a corresponding indentation (-). Periodically, water flows from the mound, collecting in the small indention where its gathered and slowly recirculated. The fountain does not flow constant, but rather, its rate is gradually adjusted throughout the day, allowing water to pool and recede in distinct cycles.

The presence and absence of water creates a subtle maker and physical manifestation of the passage of time. A link between the physical and the temporal is shaped as a tangible experience of place.
