INTERNATIONAL CONSULTATION ON CONCEPTUAL LANDSCAPE DESIGN OF THE CENTRAL PARK AND GREEN AXIS, DONGGUAN INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS AREA

Client: The Construction Headquarters of Dongguan Central Area Dongguan Municipal Bureau of Natural Resources

This project is about more than merely a new central park for the City of Dongguan. This is about having a vision that looks toward the future of the city and simultaneously looks back to enrich the blossoming that is oncoming. This can be done by setting a strong foundation or roots for new growth to spring from. This rich base allows for the flows and movements of its urban networks, natural systems and movements of its people. These frameworks for new growth will not hinder, but instead encourage new spaces and readings of the city, its nature and its robust culture.

Dongguan is its own special reality within the booming region of the Greater Bay Area. The project seeks to link to the natural and cultural context of the area, yet celebrate what makes Dongguan distinct and special. The spaces we put forth will welcome openly those seeking to join in on the future of the city, yet reveal the legacies of the city’s rich history that it is founded upon – giving a deeper appreciation of the space for long time residents of the city.

This is not just a design for a park, this is a vision for the city and its people rooted in its robust natural and cultural heritage that frames spaces to look toward the future of Dongguan.
