Description

This 21st-century building is inspired by early-20th-century “Mission Style California” in a neighborhood blessed with Bernard Maybeck’s renowned projects. The traditional design of the very first LEED-certified building in Berkeley, CA, occupies a unique site at an entrance to Tilden Park just beyond a residential neighborhood.

The new joint station, at the treacherous urban-forest wildfire interface of Berkeley and East Bay Regional Parks, is designed to protect parkland and neighborhoods. The traditionally detailed architecture received enthusiastic community support city-wide and in its neighborhood during its planning, and accolades following construction completion.
