airbnb eco-pod
This installation in the heart of Venice Beach is a microcosm of sustainable ideas. The Eco-Pod was part of Airbnb’s local hospitality project, Hello LA, which celebrated fascinating people, places, and experiences in Los Angeles. The project balances high-tech and all-natural systems for off-grid resilience. The simple, steel structure is accented by wood louvered awnings and verdant green walls. The temporary pavilion, which ultimately travelled to San Francisco and New York, is a didactic shelter meant to educate the general public about different strategies for achieving sustainability in the built environment. By writing love letters to LA, a lucky few won overnight stays in the biophilic Eco-Pod.
