BLV Apartment occupies the noble floor of an early 1900s villa in Blevio, Italy, reworked by TGA Studio and Atelierzero into a generous contemporary residence. The 300 sq m (3,229 sq ft) apartment with an 80 sq m (861 sq ft) perimeter terrace now orients daily life toward Lake Como’s changing light. Historic character stays in play while a precise new palette, sculptural elements, and calm furnishings anchor the refreshed rooms.

Morning light slides across patterned flooring and settles on deep green walls, picking up the warm sheen of brass and the soft weave of upholstery. Large openings pull the lake into the rooms, while the perimeter terrace extends daily routines toward the water.
BLV Apartment is a 300 sq m (3,229 sq ft) apartment on the noble floor of an early 1900s villa in Blevio, reworked by TGA Studio and Atelierzero. The project reinterprets the large lakefront residence through color, material, and a bold central volume that organizes movement and daily life. Historical traces remain legible, yet the atmosphere feels unapologetically current.
The renovation responds to an elevated entry sequence that drops visitors straight into the heart of the home. From this higher landing, a double height room opens, framed by the villa’s original round window and a generous Sahara Noir marble island. Here the designers introduce the project’s key element: a sculptural brass volume by De Castelli that catches light, conceals storage, and quietly divides the two kitchens without closing them off. The piece also guides circulation toward the living rooms and the terrace beyond.
Color Anchors The Rooms
A tight palette arranges the apartment in atmospheres rather than isolated rooms. The entry vestibule wraps visitors in brick red, turning arrival into a small ritual and setting a warmer register for what follows. In the main living area a deep green envelops walls and built ins, echoing nearby hillsides and catching the shimmer of Lake Como through tall arched doors. Softer blues and greens appear in the bedrooms, where lighter tones and fine herringbone flooring give the volumes an easy, open character.
Historic Bones, New Volumes
Structural work widens existing openings between rooms so views and daylight pass more freely across the plan. Wider thresholds now align sightlines from inner areas out to the lake, a gain that turns secondary rooms into vantage points. In the primary bedroom, demolition uncovers a vaulted ceiling that becomes the basis for a new mezzanine studio, its desk peering over the room toward the water from a more private height. Throughout, the original tall proportions stay evident while new joinery, stair railings, and built in elements sit with crisp precision.
Material Rhythm And Detail
Materials repeat in tuned variations to link areas across the large floor. Sahara Noir marble grounds the kitchen island, its veining echoed by darker stone at the fireplace and by slim black fixtures above. The brass clad volume introduces a warmer metallic note that returns in door hardware, shelving accents, and lighting, so small touches resonate with the central object. Bathrooms pick up bolder tiling, with glossy teal ceramic around the basins catching light and contrasting with pale walls and wood shelves. In secondary rooms, open shelving, timber desks, and soft upholstered pieces keep the focus on daily use rather than display.
Life At The Edge Of The Lake
Along the façade, tall French doors connect living areas and bedrooms to the brick paved terrace that wraps the apartment. Outdoor chairs and tables sit just beyond the threshold, so one step carries morning coffee or evening conversation into the open air. Views stretch across Lake Como to the opposite shore, with railings tracing a subtle pattern against the water and distant hills. The apartment’s measured palette and crafted volumes hold those views close, letting color and material quietly frame everyday encounters with the landscape.
