In the NoHo district of New York, designer Danny Kaplan has created a multi-functional space on Lafayette Street that combines residential and studio functions, presenting a spatial model where life and creation are intertwined and coexist. This project is not a traditional residence or exhibition hall; rather, it is a design experiment centered around daily living, integrating ceramics, furniture, and spatial narrative into a unified whole.

空间结构以层层递进的方式展开。入口处如画廊般的卧室首先确立基调，随后过渡至紧凑而高度整合的设计图书馆、餐厨区域，再延伸至相对私密的书房与卧室。动线的安排强调流动与停驻之间的节奏，使不同功能在连续转换中形成内在关联。卡普兰的多件原创家具贯穿其间，包括陶瓷灯具与定制桌案，并与文斯·帕蒂（Vince Patti）合作完成系列作品。陶瓷材质在家具结构中的嵌入，不仅强化触觉经验，也使作品在时间维度上赋予更长久的生命力。

The spatial structure unfolds in a progressive manner. The entrance area, resembling a gallery, sets the tone first, followed by the compact and highly integrated design of the library, kitchen area, and then extending to the relatively private study and bedroom. The arrangement of the movement path emphasizes the rhythm between flow and pause, allowing different functions to form an internal connection in the continuous transition. Kaplans several original furniture pieces run through it, including ceramic lamps and custom desks, and a series of works were completed in collaboration with Vince Patti. The embedding of ceramic materials in the furniture structure not only enhances the tactile experience but also gives the works a longer vitality in the temporal dimension.

卡普兰的创作根基源于早期道具造型经验，这段经历使其深入理解材料的可塑性与叙事潜能。以阿斯特灯为代表的灯具系列，借邻近地标命名，将地域记忆转化为具体物象，体现其将个人经验与城市语境结合的策略。在这处居所中，他既是设计者也是使用者，通过长期居住不断检验与修正作品，使形式与功能在真实生活中达成平衡。

Kaplans creative foundation stems from his early experience with prop design. This experience enabled him to deeply understand the plasticity of materials and the narrative potential. The lighting series represented by the Astor Lamp, named after nearby landmarks, transforms regional memories into concrete objects, embodying his strategy of integrating personal experience with the urban context. In this residence, he is both the designer and the user. Through long-term residence, he constantly tests and refines his works, achieving a balance between form and function in real life.
