湖州埭溪文商综合体丨中国湖州丨米丈建筑

中国的城镇，大多有着悠久的历史沿革。在漫长的岁月中，它们沉淀了独特的地域文化，形成了各自的生活节奏与空间秩序。然而，随着现代化的快速推进，许多城镇的面貌逐渐趋于同质，那些原本鲜明的文化特征在千篇一律的建设中被稀释、被遮蔽。如何在当代语境下重新唤醒城镇的文化记忆，如何通过建筑的语言为平凡的城镇注入独特的精神气质，成为当下建筑师面临的重要命题。

Most towns in China have a long historical evolution. Over the long years, they have precipitated unique regional cultures and formed their own living rhythms and spatial orders. However, with the rapid advancement of modernization, the appearance of many towns has gradually become homogeneous, and those originally distinct cultural characteristics have been diluted and obscured in the monotonous construction. How to reawaken the cultural memory of towns in the contemporary context, and how to inject a unique spiritual temperament into ordinary towns through architectural language, have become important propositions facing architects today.

埭溪镇位于湖州吴兴区，地处天目山脉和杭嘉湖平原过渡地带，既有天目山的雄浑，又有太湖的秀美，是非常典型的江南小镇。近几十年，由传统的农业生产为主，逐渐转向美妆特色产业。新产业带动了区域快速转型发展，随着经济增长，城镇面貌也焕然一新。但美化升级的城区，如同中国大量的城镇一样，缺乏具有在地特点和识别性的面貌，公共生活的配套设施也一直处于空缺状态。2020年，政府拿出镇区中心的地块，规划建造一个集文化、体育和商业于一体的综合性公共建筑，为全镇提供文化体育配套，也希望通过具有艺术感染力的公共建筑，为这座平凡的城镇注入新的文化活力。拟建地块处于周边两所学校的包围中，被南北贯穿的河道分开，东面呈矩形，西面沿河道不规则展开。河道上尚存一座清代石板桥，静静见证着这座小镇的沧桑变迁。

Located in Wuxing District of Huzhou, Daixi Town lies at the transitional zone between the Tianmu Mountains and the Hangjiahu Plain. Endowed with both the grandeur of the Tianmu Mountains and the elegance of Taihu Lake, it is a typical Jiangnan town. In recent decades, it has shifted from a traditional agriculture-dominated economy to a characteristic beauty industry. The new industry has driven the rapid transformation and development of the region, and with economic growth, the urban landscape has also taken on a new look. However, like many towns in China, the upgraded urban area lacks distinctive local features and recognizability, and supporting facilities for public life have long been absent. In 2020, the government allocated a plot in the center of the town to plan and build a comprehensive public building integrating culture, sports and commerce, aiming to provide cultural and sports supporting facilities for the whole town and inject new cultural vitality into this ordinary town through a publicly accessible building with artistic appeal. The proposed plot is surrounded by two nearby schools, divided by a north-south river, with a rectangular shape in the east and an irregular extension along the river in the west. An ancient stone bridge from the Qing Dynasty still stands on the river, quietly witnessing the vicissitudes of this small town.

传统建筑设计往往将功能作为首要考量，形式服从功能成为现代建筑的铁律。然而，当建筑置身于一个文化特征日渐模糊的城镇环境中时，单纯的功能主义显然不足以回应时代的呼唤。我们试图在这个项目中跳脱传统建筑处理方法的桎梏，在满足功能需求的基础上，将建筑作为一个具有艺术感的大地艺术对象来塑造。

Traditional architectural design often takes function as the primary consideration, and “form follows function” has become an iron law of modern architecture. However, when a building is situated in an urban environment with increasingly blurred cultural characteristics, pure functionalism is obviously insufficient to respond to the call of the times. We attempt to break free from the constraints of traditional architectural approaches in this project; on the basis of meeting functional needs, we shape the building as a work of land art with strong artistic appeal.

“抽象山水”的概念由此而生。中国山水画讲究“意在笔先”，追求“神似”而非“形似”。画家以简练的笔墨勾勒出山川的神韵，观者则在留白与墨韵之间展开想象的翅膀。我们试图将这种东方美学的精髓转译为建筑语言，以抽象的几何形态呼应远山近水的自然意象，以纯粹的色彩对比营造诗意的空间氛围。

From this, the concept of “Abstract Landscape” was born. Chinese landscape painting emphasizes “intent before brushwork” and pursues “spiritual resemblance” rather than “physical resemblance”. Painters outline the charm of mountains and rivers with concise brushstrokes, while viewers spread their wings of imagination between the blank spaces and ink rhymes. We try to translate the essence of this oriental aesthetics into architectural language, echoing the natural imagery of distant mountains and nearby waters with abstract geometric forms, and creating a poetic spatial atmosphere through pure color contrast.

建筑沿河道两岸展开，西侧为商业中心，东侧为文化体育中心。两组建筑以鲜明的几何形态呈现——倾斜的屋顶、错落的体量、纯粹的立面，如同从大地生长而出的抽象雕塑。白色与橙红色的建筑在蓝天下形成强烈的视觉对比，既是对传统江南粉墙黛瓦的当代演绎，也是对大地艺术色彩美学的建筑诠释。

The building unfolds along both banks of the river: the commercial center is located on the west bank, and the culture and sports center on the east bank. The two groups of buildings present distinct geometric forms — sloping roofs, scattered volumes, and pure facades, like abstract sculptures growing out of the earth. The white and orange-red buildings form a strong visual contrast under the blue sky, which is not only a contemporary interpretation of the traditional Jiangnan style of white walls and black tiles, but also an architectural interpretation of the color aesthetics of land art.

一条蜿蜒的曲水步行连廊成为连接两岸建筑的关键元素。这条连廊既是功能上的交通纽带，也成为艺术上的空间诗篇。它如同一条飘带，轻盈地跨越河道，将商业与文化、动与静、喧嚣与宁静有机地串联在一起。

A winding Qushui Pedestrian Corridor serves as the key element connecting the buildings on both banks. More than just a functional transportation link, this corridor is also a spatial poem of art. Like a floating ribbon, it spans the river gracefully, organically connecting commerce and culture, movement and stillness, noise and tranquility.

连廊的设计延续了“抽象山水”的主题。其曲线形态取自流水的自然韵律，在几何的精确与自然的自由之间寻找平衡。行走其间，人们的视线被引导向不同的方向——或是对岸的建筑轮廓，或是脚下的潺潺流水，或是远处的天际线。这种空间体验如同欣赏一幅长卷山水画，步移景异，处处皆成画境。

The design of the corridor continues the theme of “Abstract Landscape”. Its curved form is derived from the natural rhythm of flowing water, seeking a balance between geometric precision and natural freedom. Walking through it, people’s sight is guided in different directions — either the architectural outline on the opposite bank, the gurgling water underfoot, or the distant skyline. This spatial experience is like appreciating a long scroll of Chinese landscape painting, where the scenery changes with each step, and every view forms a picture.

更为重要的是，这条连廊为两个截然不同的功能区块建立了对话的可能。商业中心承载着日常生活的烟火气息，文化体育中心则承载着精神生活的崇高追求。连廊的存在，使得这两种生活场景不再彼此隔绝，而是形成了一种有机的互补与互动。人们可以在购物之后漫步至图书馆阅读，也可以在运动之后便捷地享用商业服务。这种功能的混合与交织，正是当代城市公共空间的重要特征。

More importantly, this corridor establishes the possibility of dialogue between two distinct functional areas. The commercial center carries the fireworks of daily life, while the culture and sports center undertakes the noble pursuit of spiritual life. The existence of the corridor makes these two life scenes no longer isolated from each other, but forms an organic complementarity and interaction. People can stroll to the library for reading after shopping, or conveniently enjoy commercial services after exercising. This mixture and interweaving of functions is an important feature of contemporary urban public spaces.

建筑的意义不仅在于满足功能需求，更在于塑造场所精神。优秀的城镇公共建筑设计，必须坚持“在地性”原则——所谓在地性，不是简单的文化符号堆砌，而是对区域自然肌理、人文脉络、生活方式的深刻理解与精准回应。对于一个面貌普通但历史悠久的城镇而言，具有标志性的公共建筑能够成为提升整个区域文化特征和识别性的重要媒介。埭溪文商综合体的建成，为埭溪镇带来了前所未有的视觉焦点和文化地标。

The significance of architecture lies not only in meeting functional needs, but also in shaping the spirit of place. Excellent urban public architectural design must adhere to the principle of “locality” — the so-called locality is not a simple pile-up of cultural symbols, but a profound understanding and accurate response to the regional natural context, cultural context and lifestyle. For a town with a long history but an ordinary appearance, a landmark public building can become an important medium to enhance the cultural characteristics and recognizability of the entire region. The completion of Daixi Culture, Sports and Commercial Complex has brought an unprecedented visual focus and cultural landmark to Daixi Town.

那些倾斜的几何体块，在远处望去如同抽象的山峦剪影；那条蜿蜒的连廊，则如同流淌的溪水将“山峦”串联成完整的画卷。这种“抽象山水”的建筑表达，既根植于中国传统山水文化的深厚土壤，又以当代的艺术语言进行了全新的诠释。它既不是对传统建筑的简单模仿，也不是对西方现代主义的生硬移植，而是一种立足本土、面向未来的探索。

From a distance, those sloping geometric blocks resemble the silhouette of abstract mountains; the winding corridor, like a flowing stream, connects the “mountains” into a complete picture scroll. This architectural expression of “Abstract Landscape” is not only rooted in the profound soil of traditional Chinese landscape culture, but also reinterpreted with contemporary artistic language. It is neither a simple imitation of traditional architecture nor a rigid transplantation of Western modernism, but an exploration based on the local context and facing the future.

建筑的色彩选择同样经过深思熟虑。白色象征着江南建筑的粉墙传统，纯净而典雅；橙红色则如同秋日山林的斑斓，温暖而热烈。两种色彩的交织，既形成了强烈的视觉冲击力，又保持了和谐的整体感。当阳光洒在建筑立面上，光影的变化赋予建筑以时间的维度，使其在不同的时间段呈现出不同的表情。

The color selection of the building has also been carefully considered. White symbolizes the traditional white walls of Jiangnan architecture, pure and elegant; orange-red is like the gorgeous colors of mountain forests in autumn, warm and enthusiastic. The interweaving of the two colors not only forms a strong visual impact, but also maintains a harmonious sense of wholeness. When sunlight falls on the building facade, the changes of light and shadow endow the building with a sense of time, making it show different expressions at different times of the day.

建筑最终是为人的活动而存在的。无论形式如何新颖、理念如何超前，如果不能为人们提供舒适、愉悦的使用体验，便失去了建筑的根本价值。埭溪文商综合体在追求艺术表达的同时，始终将人的体验置于设计的核心位置。

Ultimately, architecture exists for human activities. No matter how innovative the form or advanced the concept, if it cannot provide people with a comfortable and pleasant user experience, it loses the fundamental value of architecture. While pursuing artistic expression, Daixi Culture, Sports and Commercial Complex always puts human experience at the core of the design.

商业中心的内部空间灵活开敞，适应多种商业业态的需求。倾斜的屋顶不仅塑造了独特的外部形象，也在内部创造了丰富的空间层次。文化体育中心则配备了游泳馆、健身房、篮球场等多种功能设施，为镇区居民提供了完善的文化体育服务。

The internal space of the commercial center is flexible and open, adapting to the needs of various commercial formats. The sloping roof not only shapes a unique external image, but also creates rich spatial layers inside. The culture and sports center is equipped with various functional facilities such as a swimming pool, a gym and a basketball court, providing complete cultural and sports services for the town’s residents.

户外空间的设计同样精心考量。沿河岸设置了步行道和休憩平台，人们可以在这里欣赏河景、交流互动。连廊不仅是通行的路径，也是观景点和停留点。建筑与景观的有机融合，营造出宜人的场所氛围，使这里成为镇区居民日常生活中不可或缺的部分。

The design of outdoor spaces is also carefully considered. Walking paths and rest platforms are set along the riverbank, where people can enjoy the river view and interact with each other. The corridor is not only a passage for circulation, but also a viewing point and a resting place. The organic integration of architecture and landscape creates a pleasant place atmosphere, making it an indispensable part of the daily life of the town’s residents.

建筑是人类文明的物质载体，也是时代精神的形象表达。埭溪文商综合体项目，是我们在当代语境下探索“新而中”建筑道路的一次实践。我们试图以抽象的艺术语言回应传统的山水文化，以当代的建筑技术实现诗意的空间理想。

Architecture is the material carrier of human civilization and the image expression of the spirit of the times. The Daixi Culture, Sports and Commercial Complex project is a practice for us to explore the path of “new yet Chinese” architecture in the contemporary context. We attempt to respond to the traditional landscape culture with abstract artistic language and realize the poetic spatial ideal with contemporary architectural technology.

当建筑落成，看到人们在连廊上漫步、在广场上休憩、在图书馆里阅读，我们深感欣慰。建筑的价值终究要通过人的使用来实现，那些原本抽象的形式因为人的活动而变得生动、变得温暖。这或许正是建筑最本质的意义——不仅是物质的遮蔽，更是精神的栖居；不仅是功能的容器，更是生活的舞台。

When the building was completed, we felt deeply gratified to see people strolling on the corridor, resting in the square and reading in the library. The value of architecture is ultimately realized through human use, and those originally abstract forms become vivid and warm because of human activities. This is perhaps the most essential significance of architecture — it is not only a material shelter, but also a spiritual habitat; not only a container of functions, but also a stage for life.

埭溪镇的“抽象山水”，是一幅用建筑绘制的当代画卷。它承载着我们对传统与现代、艺术与功能、个体与社区关系的思考，也寄托着我们对未来城镇生活的美好期许。愿这幅画卷在岁月的长河中愈发动人，愿这座平凡的城镇因为这座建筑而拥有更加鲜明的文化面孔。也希望通过我们的设计实践，让这座有历史、有温度的城镇，拥有属于自己的“文化地标”与“大地雕塑”，让抽象的山水意境，成为具象的城镇风景与艺术盛宴，让每一个居民，都能在自己的家乡，遇见诗与远方、邂逅艺术与美好。

The “Abstract Landscape” of Daixi Town is a contemporary scroll painted with architecture. It carries our thoughts on the relationship between tradition and modernity, art and function, individual and community, and also embodies our beautiful expectations for the future urban life. May this scroll become more charming in the long river of time, and may this ordinary town have a more distinctive cultural identity because of this building. We also hope that through our design practice, this town with a long history and warmth can have its own “cultural landmark” and “land sculpture”, turning the abstract artistic conception of mountains and rivers into a concrete urban scenery and artistic feast, allowing every resident to encounter poetry and distant places, art and beauty in their hometown.
