As a top-ranking global city, London has its fair share of everything that ticks our boxes, and that includes cool lodgings. As of late, the Nobu Hotel in the city’s Shoreditch area has changed ownership, and consequently, the property is now called Aethos London Shoreditch. Obviously, the premises have been redesigned, featuring new settings created by Astet, an interior design and architecture practice based in Barcelona. The design codes are heavily influenced by the neighbourhood’s industrial history, featuring a material palette that balances terracotta, brushed metals, and layered wood, all paired with commissioned light fixtures and handcrafted elements by local artisans. This has resulted in a series of warm, inviting spaces which define luxury by way of storytelling and an invitation to adapt to a slower pace.

The Aethos London Shoreditch has 164 guest rooms and suites in ten different categories, and each one not only features warm, minimalist interiors and bespoke furnishings, but also meets the requirements of today’s savvy traveller. Given Shoreditch‘s new stature as a buzzing creative hub, the property comes with a number of facilities to match. Part of the cozy lobby, Aethos Café isn’t just the hotel’s socio-culinary meeting point, but also aims to be the neighbourhood’s extended living room. An all-day diner, its extensive menu lists small and large dishes, all inspired by Mediterranean cuisine, albeit tweaked with cosmopolitan flair, and paired with a selection of beverages and a tightly curated list of wines from many a sunny Mediterranean country and far beyond.

The latter establishment will be joined next month by Mitsu, an Izakaya hospitality concept, albeit infused with Shoreditch style, serving authentic Japanese fare, fabulous drinks, and live DJ sets unil the wee little hours. In need of a more exclusive setting? Well, the newly opened Willow Room is readily available. This members-only restaurant, bar, library and terrace aims to foster the local creative community. Mind you, it comes with a collaborative work space for meetings and quiet work in the day, while at night, it transforms into as a vibrant hub for community gatherings, intimate music gigs and DJ sets. In order to balance all that hard work and party fun at the Aethos London Shoreditch, the place also boasts a gym with state-of-the-art Technogym equipment.
