位于美国佐治亚州萨凡纳（Savannah, Georgia）的全新44间客房酒店Municipal Grand，通过对地标性建筑——第一联邦储蓄与贷款协会大楼（First Federal Savings and Loan Association）的改造，为城市建筑遗产注入新的生命。该项目由AAmp Studio设计，在保留建筑中世纪现代主义根基的同时融入当代设计元素，营造出独特的酒店体验。酒店坐落于萨凡纳市中心历史街区（Downtown Historic District）的一处重要街角，六层空间内配置多种餐饮设施，既吸引游客，也面向本地居民开放。

The Municipal Grand, a new 44-room hotel in Savannah, Georgia, breathes new life into the city’s architectural heritage by transforming the landmark First Federal Savings and Loan Association building. Designed by AAmp Studio, the hotel seamlessly blends the building’s midcentury modern roots with contemporary design elements, creating a unique hospitality experience. Located on a prominent corner in Savannah’s Downtown Historic District, the hotel’s six floors offer a range of amenities, including multiple food and beverage options, designed to attract visitors and locals alike.

AAmp Studio是一家屡获殊荣的设计事务所，在多伦多与缅因州波特兰设有办公室，擅长商业、酒店、文化及住宅类项目。本次Municipal Grand项目，正是其跨领域经验的集中体现。萨凡纳因其战前（Antebellum）建筑而闻名，但城市中同样保有一批鲜为人知的战后现代主义建筑。AAmp Studio敏锐地意识到这一建筑遗产，并希望通过Municipal Grand项目加以彰显，在为未来世代更新建筑的同时加以保护。

AAmp Studio, an award-winning design firm with offices in Toronto and Portland, Maine, brought its expertise in commercial, hospitality, cultural, and residential projects to the Municipal Grand.While Savannah is renowned for its antebellum architecture, it also boasts a lesser-known collection of modernist buildings from the post-World War Il era. AAmp Studio recognized this architectural legacy and sought to celebrate it with the Municipal Grand, preserving and refreshing the building for future generations.

原第一联邦储蓄与贷款协会大楼由Levy and Kiley于1961年建成，外立面采用灰色花岗岩墙体、白色混凝土框架以及标志性的蓝色马赛克瓷砖。作为受保护的地标建筑，其原始设计得以大体保留。AAmp Studio将重点放在修复既有元素之上，例如蓝色马赛克瓷砖与铝制框架，同时引入新的设计语言，与原有美学形成呼应，而非简单复制。建筑原本硬朗、规整的直线形体，通过加入温暖的材质、色调以及曲线几何元素得以柔化，从而在历史结构与AAmp的当代介入之间建立清晰区分。

The former First Federal Savings and Loan Association building, constructed in 1961 by Levy and Kiley, features grey granite walls, white concrete frames, and distinctive blue mosaic tile. As a landmarked structure, the building’s original design was largely preserved. AAmp Studio focused on restoring existing elements, like the blue mosaic tile and aluminum framing, and introducing new design elements that complemented the original aesthetic without simply replicating it. The building’s hard-edged, rectilinear form is softened by the addition of warm textures, tones, and curvilinear geometries, creating a clear distinction between the historic structure and AAmp’s contemporary interventions.

酒店的公共空间呈现出AAmp对于“热带现代主义”（tropical modernism）的诠释。大堂设有双层挑高的休息区，提供多样化座椅选择，并保留修复了原有2×2网格灯具。大堂中的Municipal Bar以半圆形构成视觉焦点，提供精酿鸡尾酒及全天候菜单。酒店背后的品牌Midnight Auteur强调全天开放的大堂酒吧作为核心社交空间，营造充满活力与庆祝氛围的环境。

The hotel’s public spaces showcase AAmp’s interpretation of “tropical modernism.” The lobby features a double-height lounge with a variety of seating options and the restored original 2×2 grid light fixtures. The Municipal Bar, a semicircular focal point in the lobby, offers craft cocktails and an all-day menu. Midnight Auteur, the hospitality company behind the Municipal Grand, emphasizes the all-day lobby bar as a central gathering space, creating a vibrant and celebratory atmosphere.

除Municipal Bar外，酒店还设有两个风格鲜明的社交空间。位于地下层的Hot Eye是一间温馨的鸡尾酒吧，深色水磨石、染色木材与红色点缀营造出更为私密的氛围。屋顶的Sun Club则设有露天酒吧与泳池，环绕以休闲座椅，可俯瞰萨凡纳全景。屋顶设计延续了建筑标志性的蓝色马赛克瓷砖，并结合繁茂绿植，既呼应热带现代主义主题，也契合萨凡纳郁郁葱葱的城市景观。

In addition to the Municipal Bar, the hotel offers two other distinct social spaces. Hot Eye, a cozy cocktail bar in the basement, provides a more intimate setting with dark terrazzo, stained wood, and red accents. On the roof, the Sun Club offers an open-air bar and a swimming pool surrounded by lounge seating, providing panoramic views of Savannah. The rooftop design incorporates the building’s signature blue mosaic tile and lush plantings, connecting to both the tropical modernist theme and Savannah’s verdant landscape.

客房分布于夹层至六层，呈现更为克制的“芬兰现代主义”风格。房型从标准大床房（Standard Queen）到带露台的套房（King Suite with Patio）不等。客房入口设有深绿色门厅，通过定制木作过渡至主要起居区域；浴室采用弧形淋浴入口与红色大理石台面。每间客房均设有大理石吧台，配备精选烈酒、咖啡、茶与玻璃器皿，呼应酒店对高品质鸡尾酒体验的关注。木质与天鹅绒定制床头板以及舒适的卡座区域，进一步提升居住体验。

The guest rooms, located on the mezzanine through the sixth floors, reflect a quieter “Finnish modern” influence. The rooms, which range from Standard Queen to King Suite with Patio, feature a vestibule in a rich green hue, a millwork threshold leading to the main living area, and bathrooms with curved shower entries and red marble counters. Each room includes a marble bar top with a curated selection of spirits, coffee, tea, and glassware, reflecting the hotel’s focus on elevated cocktail experiences. Custom headboards made of wood and velvet, along with comfortable banquette seating areas, enhance the guest experience.

The Municipal Grand project represents a collaboration between international expertise and local knowledge. Midnight Auteur and AAmp Studio, who have worked together on projects like the Ramble Hotel and Death & Co outposts, partnered with local firms Lynch Associates Architects and Ward Architecture + Preservation to ensure the hotel remained true to Savannah’s character.
