The owners, for whom travel is an integral part of everyday life, dreamed of a space as comfortable and refined as the finest vacation destinations. As the designers from Yaro Bureau explain, the key goal was to create an interior to which returning home would not mean a change of atmosphere — the apartment was meant to offer experiences better than a vacation.
ABOUT
This idea guided the design of a 70-square-meter apartment in a new residential complex in Lviv. A neutral color palette dominates throughout the interior: whites and beiges are occasionally accented with bold red details. Natural materials were chosen — warm wood, microcement, travertine, and fabrics in earthy tones. Wooden wall panels and textured plaster add depth, while tall doors visually enhance the sense of space.
The clients love to cook, so the kitchen required a generous and highly functional work surface. The centerpiece of the space is a substantial island clad in light veneer and topped with a Breccia Pernice Italian marble countertop, which also serves as a dining table and a gathering place. The fronts of the tall cabinetry were finished in painted MDF matching the wall color, allowing them to visually blend into the interior. The absence of upper cabinets and the use of minimalist stainless-steel shelves add a sense of lightness. Above the island, minimalist Vibia pendant lamps were suspended; their warm wooden interiors echo the kitchen joinery.
“Their scale lends the interior a theatrical quality, and in the evening, when the lighting is dimmed, they create a cozy, intimate atmosphere.” The living area connected to the kitchen is symbolically separated by the use of wood flooring. It features a generous sofa designed to encourage family time.
Corner apartments are probably one of the best options for optimizing space, as they usually have many windows.
The bedroom, designed in a warm, monochromatic color palette, exudes calm. Beside the bed stands a custom-made bedside table crafted from wood and leftover travertine used in the bathrooms. Suspended terracotta pendant lamps by Vibia soft, focused lighting.
One of the apartment’s highlights is the bathroom with an open shower — an idea the clients brought back from their travels across Asia. All surfaces, including the ceiling, were finished in sand-toned microcement. The steel towel rail mounted on a heated wall is a custom design by Yaro Bureau. A minimalist washbasin by Sanycces was used here.
In the second bathroom, the designers opted for timeless travertine, which adds elegance — the travertine sink and bathtub have become the owner’s favorite elements of the apartment.
