Pavilion Concept
The pavilion “Enclose” explores enclosure not as isolation, but as a spatial condition that gathers people while remaining open and accessible. The structure defines a clear centre without blocking movement, allowing visitors to pass through, pause, or interact within the space. The project focuses on balance between openness and containment, creating a calm yet active presence in the courtyard.
Site & Context
Located above the central reflecting pool in the Munk School courtyard, the pavilion uses water as a visual and spatial anchor.Reflections of the structure and surrounding historic brick buildings strengthen the connection between contemporary form and existing architecture. The pavilion becomes part of the courtyard rather than a standalone object.
Spatial Organization & Program
The form is organized into four wings: two smaller and two larger, arranged around a central open area.Smaller wings accommodate a café and flexible informational or temporary uses.Larger wings provide seating, relaxation, and exhibition spaces, supporting both movement and moments of rest.
Form, Structure & Atmosphere
The pavilion’s continuous geometry guides movement and creates a sense of flow through the space.A lightweight structure slightly rises above the water, allowing circulation across and around the reflecting pool.Roof geometry directs rainwater toward specific areas, reinforcing the relationship between form, landscape, and water while maintaining a calm, inviting atmosphere.
